Hello from Canada
Hello all. I just found this forum and thought it was a great place to discuss and celebrate staffys. I have a 6 month old black with brindle girl staffy named Halo. He is our little criminal as she manages to steal stuff from the oddest places and gets herself into trouble all the time. Just when you think she is mellowing out, she comes in with sunglasses, or keys, or radio or any object in her mouth. Yet she doesnt chew on her own toys..go figure. As I type this she just found a sears catalogue and is destroying it. Does this stage pass or is this their nature?

Re: Hello from Canada
haha cheeky staffy's, my boy sounds like an angel compared to the stories I hear on here, he only chews his toys and magazines and newspapers (which I let him have)' nothing else! but he is only 4.5 months and hasn't reached the "teenage years" which it looks like yours has!
I read on here that the craziness should slow down when they reach maturity (around 18months)
anyway, nice to meet you welcome to the forum!

Hi & welcome.
She may be called Halo, but she sounds like the halo has slipped a little! >
The chewing anything & everything is normal enough, but try to keep on top of it - don't allow it one day & then tell her off another, she'll get confused.

Re: Hello from Canada
from my girls Kita & Izzy.
Halo is only 6 months old, so she's still a baby and chewing is part of her life. I think I have been extremely lucky with Kita as she only chewed or "stole" things for a very short time (she did grow up with a another pup who was 5 months older than her).
Izzy on the other hand only chewed a very small patch in the pile on the rug in the family room, HOWEVER she is driving me nuts with her chewing/killing all her own toys. 4 dead toys in a week, arrrghhhhhhh!!!!!
I actually think she is bored as we are at work during the day and Kita (who's now 14yrs) isn't very interested in playing and just wants to sleep most of the time.
As Caryll suggests be consistent with your instructions/directions and ensure anyone else in the house follows the same guidelines.
She'll get there

Re: Hello from Canada
Hi there and welcome.
My 12 year old staffy Jethro has destroyed..shredded..chewed heaps of things over the years... and my puppy Winston just went past a low table with a box of tissues on it, and pulled a big wad of tissues out and ran off and ripped them up all over the place... I think it is just a staffy thing they do to keep us on our toes!!

just like my blue eyed boy REGGIE ; He was so quiet and calm when we first got him and now hes starting to show his true colours.... he loves to sneak off and go and grab random items from around the house his fave at the moment is socks from the washing basket!!! little devil > he always looks so proud when he comes running in with it in his mouth. I must admitt, i hope this stops some time in the near future...ha ha ha
