Hello from Canada
Hello Everyone;
I have been ghosting on your forums for some time now, and I figured today, as I just got my deposit down for one of these gorgeous Staffy's this afternoon, I'd finally join in.
As I said, I just put the deposit down today. My last pup, a lovely German Shepherd/Huskie Xross, passed away at the ripe old age of 15 last year and, after a little grieving time, I jumped back into the "puppy research" phase. I bounced around various dogs, looking for basically the two requirements that mean anything to me, loving and loyal. Finally, after such a long search, the Staffy seemed the way to go (not just in the two L's, but in every facet of their character), and for the last 4-5months I've been the invisible reader around here, learning as much as possible.
I've found a lovely breeder in Alberta, Canada, and have decided to go that route. Staffy rescues are criminally rare in Canada, as this breed is, sadly, unknown here. And the places it is, it's actually listed on the Restricted Breed Legistation registry by name (As a fun fact, the staffordshire bull terrier is the only specifically named bull-breed on the restricted list, exempt only when bought from a breeder and registered with our CKC as fully purebred).
I had originally planned on getting a mutt, but sadly, with them being on the restricted list, when I did find one (1 in a millon shot) I would have to confine it to a muzzle and a pen 23/24 hours a day and not allow it to leave the house or yard, and I don't have it in my heart to lock a dog down like that day in and out.
Anyways, despite the mind-bogglingly ignorant logistics (I'm sure you all are either aware, or have heard those stories), I'm greatly excited to acquire my young pup sometime later this summer.
Other than that, the only pets I currently have now are scorpions, and sadly, you can't cuddle on a couch or play football and tug-o-war with them... well, unless you enjoy the coppery feel of anti-venom.

Hi & welcome to the forum - glad you're not a ghost any more!!
I'd have to agree with that - cuddling a scorpion wouldn't be too high on my list of must-do's! We do have a photo gallery for other pets, though, so feel free to post some pics of your scorpions!
Oh, and when you get any pics of the new pup, we'll expect to see them here quickly!

Re: Hello from Canada
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.
The wait is on right now for the puppy. The breeder has two females being bred this seasons, one is pregnant currently, and due in about 20 days, the other has a planned breeding for early May. So the wait might be a little awhile, as quite possibly, I could acquire from either litter.
What I don't think he'll expect though is, at this point, I'll take home a pigeon if he tells me it's a puppy and puts it in my hands, so I'm expecting sooner then later.
At the bare minimum, we're looking at over a month.
As for my other pets, I'll toss up their photos in the respecting forum topics, as soon as I figure out the best way to do so. And I promise you now, by day 2 of puppy ownership, this place is going to get flooded with photos. Day 1 will probably be much to exciting, and I'll sit there watching the little fella sleep all day.
