Re: LUNATHE STAFFY
Hi, me and my boyfriend got Luna just 5 days ago so we’re new parents she’s a very confident and playful little girl anyway we figured this out so far. She’s very cuddly and loving but can be very challenging when she wakes up and gets hyper and overly excited. She hasn’t had her second injection yet have to wait another week so no walks yet for her, we’re hoping she’ll be calmer when she gets to go outside. We also have a 10 month old male cat that’s the most loving cat you’ll ever come across, so the snapping biting puppy is hard for him to understand.. any help from anyone with cats as well as a staffy would be great

Re: LUNATHE STAFFY
Congratulations on being adopted by a staffy, Luna is a very pretty girl !
Don’t forget for the walks, age in months x 5 minutes on the lead (2 months = 10 minutes, 4 months = 20 minutes, etc)

Re: LUNATHE STAFFY
Yeah cannot wait to be able to take her out, we live only 5 minute drive from a big forested area and there’s loads of rivers and fields close by for her to use up her energy in was thinking about training her for dog shows when she is tiny bit older she sleeps a lot during the day tho after playing, should she be sleeping a lot at this age?

Re: LUNATHE STAFFY
Yes, like most baby animals (humans included !), they sleep alot as they’re growing lots in a short time period. You’ll notice as you weigh her !
Don’t forget photo and video overload. It’s much easier today in the numerical age and you’ll regret that she grown up too quickly

Re: LUNATHE STAFFY
Oh don’t worry I take pictures of everything she does she seems very clever for a puppy tho, I mean we have her only 8 days and the day we got her she didn’t even understand that she had to play we toys, the breeder we got her off gave them socks and slippers to chew which is making our job way harder... but now she will fetch her toys, bring them back and after a little thug let go and wait for me to throw it !

Re: LUNATHE STAFFY
She will sleep more than being awake at this age, they need their rest when pups. You could always start a bit of training with her now to occupy her brain, mental tiredness is as good as physical Little bit of sit, stay & down to start with but not for too long at a time.

Re: LUNATHE STAFFY
Yeah we’ve started off with 10-15 min sessions of trying to teach her to come when called and sit. Both her parents were show dogs so was thinking about training her down the line to bring her to one or two shows. We’ll see about that though I am not too pushed about it but there is a lot of small local dog shows around my area very often so we will definitely be taking her to them just to watch other dogs and socialize

Re: LUNATHE STAFFY
Local shows should be fun, but the bigger ones can get very bitchy. I've never entered Katy as she's way over KC size

Hiya and welcome from me and Vinnie, Luna is adorable seems you have started on the right paw so to speak with training pronto. A puppy class is a good way to help her socialize

Re: LUNATHE STAFFY
Like I am not pushed about the shows, I would never bother trying to go to really big ones but the breeder we got her of was actually a really nice lady with little kids and she had 5 staffies, all very well behaved dogs so well disciplined but happy. It makes her sound bad that she has 5 and breeds them but two are offsprings so aren’t actually breed. She takes all her dogs to local national shows just for something to do with they’re energy and to socialize them and just from talking to her it seemed like a nice thing to do because over it her dogs literally listened to every word she said and when we were in the house getting the puppy you could see she had great bond with the dogs. Just think I’m definitely going to try loads of obedience with her as I’d love for her to be well behaved in different situations when she is older

Yes I wanted to do some but can’t seem to find any around.... I will ask the vet if she knows of any and at the pet store. She cannot meet other dogs for now anyway due to only having one out of the 3 vacations

Re: LUNATHE STAFFY
Yeah will definitely look into that she is teething badly at the moment... does anyone have any advice how can I help her? She has loads of things to chew on, also bought the rings you put into freezer but they only work for like 2 minutes. I read that you can give them frozen or just normal raw carrot but she’s not interested in that at all. Likes to chew on a bit of frozen apple but eats it too quickly so can’t have too much of that.. feel so bad as she bites the worst in early morning after waking up and late evening so she must be the most sore then..

Re: LUNATHE STAFFY
Hi, welcome along. Our new puppy is 10 weeks old, so we are probably going through similar things. We have frozen lamb bones for Seren that we give her when she is mouthing. This helps.

Re: LUNATHE STAFFY
And would raw bones not be harmful at such young age? Afraid to get her them or the pig ears and all that sorts of stuff as I heard they can’t digest well yet so was trying to be careful

Re: LUNATHE STAFFY
The breeder had the pups on raw bones from a really young age. If you go to the butchers and ask for weight bearing lamb bones it should be fine. We never leave seren on her own with a bones and once she has stripped the meat and other bits off we replace with another bone. I wouldn’t buy pigs ears yet as they are difficult to chew and swallow.
