Equipment for an old dear (beds, ramps etc)
Our old girl Maddie is getting sore and achy. The vet has recommended an orthopaedic bed and a ramp to get her in and out of the car/down steps etc.
Does anyone have any recommendations please? The local pet shop doesn't stock things like this anymore so can't help.

I think your best bet is online. Amazon will do them, I'm sure!

Thanks for the suggestions - Amazon it is!
Are there any makes to avoid, or any that are really good?

Sorry, I've no idea! I'd look at the reviews before you buy!

Re: Equipment for an old dear (beds, ramps etc)
I can’t help you with the ramp (I carry Nifty into high vehicle) but for bed, you have choice.
Do you have a specific budget ?
Are you looking for the bed or just the “mattress” ?
I have the Trixie best of all breeds cushion in the bottom of her home crate
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Essential-Breeds-Cushion-100-×-Taupe/dp/B01N1FXDPO/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&qid=1535394856&sr=8-15&keywords=Trixie+best+of+breed
Very easy maintenance as outer sleeve is washable (does not deform and zipper still functional after a year of use) and Nifty has very much adopted it. For extra comfort (and maintenance ease), I put a vetfleece over the top.
You need to look for the presence of memory foam, a bed that is relatively thick (10cms minimum unless you put extra layers under/on top). Then I guess it depends on your budget, size of the product (calculate for fully stretched-out).

Nifty, that is really helpful, thank you
Maddie uses her crate a lot so a bed to fit in it would be ideal.
I shall have a look at the link and have a measure up.

Pets at Home sell memory foam mattresses in different thickness's that you can put on top of their current bed. Depending on budget, this could be an option. you can cut them to size as well if needs be. Im sure you can get these on-line too with the current situation.
We got a car ramp from Groupon that folds up into a step that we use in front of the couch and bed as well to alleviate high jumps. Only their to help them if we're not. We usually just pick them up.
