Dog cooling coat
At least another fortnight of heatwave on the horizon.
What about dog cooling coats - good or gimmick ?
Going for walks is getting complicated and Nifty is drinking every couple kms. She does not look comfortable at all, wondering if cooling coat could help.
Thoughts ?

Re: Dog cooling coat
I'd never heard of these but personally I can't see it being much help. The temperature drop from evaporation would be minimal and probably offset to a large extent by the heat generated by wearing the item itself. When it's hot I limit walks to half a mile and let him play in the shade, with a bowl of water. Nothing will stop a dog getting hot when walking long distances in heat.

Re: Dog cooling coat
Cooling coats are okay to bring down temperature, but are not for general use walking a dog in heat.
No dog should be walked in temperatures over 25 degrees.

Thanks for your replies.
Will stick to “kitchen door open to garden” and hold off from evening walks after work.

Re: Dog cooling coat
We've just been leaving the door open on days we are in and doing late evening walks when it's cooler. Hank has really struggled in the heat

Re: Dog cooling coat
For now, Nifty is making the most of 6am zoomies in the garden
Problem is that she wants to play but I think it’s too hot in the evenings ... it’s currently 30 degrees here now at almost 7pm
