Re: check this out . . .
that is exactly why i had woody neutered. we sat together one night and watched a programme about all the unwanted staffs and i cried and Woody looked distressed. although that is a bit 2 faced as i bought Woody as a pup as opposed to rescue - in my defence my first staff Tess was a rescue. if i had room/time etc for another i would definitely get a rescue

Re: check this out . . .
it's defo a dodgy subject but you have to remember we could ban breeding for 5/8 year and the staffy could be wipe out, the avg age of staffy is 12..... there no answer to the problem really. the only one i can think is helping people when they need it not to scare them off to repeat the same mistake,
Re: check this out . . .
its a good debate to have though steve.why have we bought as opposed to rescued.to be fair my excuse is poor and was to do with distance, woody was available 5 minutes round the corner, rescue centresoffering staffs were further afield - but did me taking woody save him from being mistreated and ending up in a centre......one will never know.

I think the stafford became the dog to have and ive read on another forum that its getting slightly better even though the rescues are full they say the numbers are reducing

Re: check this out . . .
My boy was my christmas present from my dad, but since joining this forum, I know that any staff I get in the future will be a rescue, without a doubt.

I know this has all been said before, but unless you're breeding for the show ring etc, I wouldn't breed at all. Staffs are the highest registered terrier every year & the numbers just keeps getting higher. So many pups end up in rescue, so many get pts. You can be so incredibly careful where your pups go, but then what happens if one of those has pups? They could all end up in rescue.

Re: check this out . . .
There is nothing wrong at all with wanting a kc reg standard staff and buying one from a accredited breeder and doing it properly. I just dont understand people who buy from byb's for £100, rescue and donate your £100 2 a worthwhile cause to help these poor animals not to line the pockets of these reckless people damaging our breeds name x
