Vaccination cost
Vet came this afternoon to vaccinate everyone; horses, cats and Nifty.
On my bill, most expensive to vaccinate is 1 cat, next is 1 Nifty and cheapest is to vaccinate 1 horse.
Clearly not related to size...
Ps. Has anyone here used bravecto as anti-flea treatment ? Supposed to be efficient 3 months

Re: Vaccination cost
I wouldn't touch bravecto - I've heard far too many horror stories connected with it.

Can you elaborate ?
I asked about using flea/tick collar instead of oral treatment but vet told me seresto are great for tick but less efficient with fleas. That hunters use bravecto during flea season then switch to collar over winter months on their hunting dogs.

Re: Vaccination cost
Here's one...
http://www.wideopenpets.com/bravecto-flea-medication-suspected-in-numerous-dog-deaths-worldwide/
But I saw dozens coming up on fb a year or so ago. The makers of Bravecto deny any problems, but the 'coincidences' of some very serious side effects would worry me.
I personally don't use a flea treatment unless there are fleas present.

Re: Vaccination cost
I gave Katy Bravecto last year for the 1st time, she was vomiting afterwards so won't use it again.

Re: Vaccination cost
I've used Bravecto on Dodger without any problems. It does last for three months.

Re: Vaccination cost
I'm sure there are many dogs that have been okay with it, but there are still too many horror stories for me to trust it.

Re: Vaccination cost
Ok, but objectively speaking, are there not just too many horror stories for anything they put on the market ?
Do people post enough positive appreciations on the web or do they just feel the need to post warning ?
I had the dilemma before using seresto on my cats. So many horror stories but in the end, it’s been a godsend for my fleabags (quite literally for onej.
Thanks gilly for the links and for your recommendations, thanks dizzy for sharing your experience

Re: Vaccination cost
Objectively? Well, yes, if people find problems arising from treatments of any sort, they have the right to make it known. Like the Lepto4 vaccine. That doesn't mean they're moaning about nothing. Surely it's better to be aware of potential problems?
We all know that vets don't always give the full picture re: side effects of various treatments (for example, neutering - they tell you all the pros but don't mention a single con!), and so it's good that we can research things & listen to people who have had experience of them, first hand.
I just don't understand why anyone would want to use harsh chemicals purely as a preventative, though.
Obviously if there's a big flea/tick problem in your area you'll want to do something about it, but otherwise it's counter productive. Many fleas are now immune to a couple of the big flea killers & so they have to bring out stronger & stronger chemical killers. If people only treated when there's a problem (which may, yes, mean treating the house & furniture as well) then the fleas would not be building up immunity to the treatment.
Bravecto have said that only 15% of users have experienced difficulties (I can't find the letter that said that!), and they think that's acceptable. Personally, I don't.
