Who’d want a puppy for xmas ?
Advertisements are starting to flourish with “reserve your puppy for xmas” but I think it’s probably one of the worst times of year.
In the middle of winter *waves to those in the southern hemisphere*, toilet runs for house training are no fun for human nor for pup, going from warm home to cold/rain/snow/frost/dark outdoors.
Zoomies indoors are not always a good idea.
Everyone needs to wrap up when going outdoors to see things during awareness puppy training.
Avoid those winter germs !!
Nifty arrived home in June and I've been so grateful for very dry weather and positive temperatures for nocturnal garden toilet runs in pj’s

Ah, but that implies thinking ahead to what getting a puppy really means.
Millie came to us at the beginning of January (not a Christmas present, she was a foster from Danaher) and yes, I well remember trying to persuade her outside. Better still, for a few weeks we had 2 foster puppies!!! It certainly did make for some trying times.

Of course, silly me. I mean the responsibility of a living being for the next fifteenish years is something to be taken very lightly without thought.
I can understand the extra excitement of puppy during end of year festivities but on the practical side, what a “poisoned gift” as we say here

I can't believe, after all the campaigns, that people would buy a puppy for Christmas. It really is a huge undertaking and shouldn't ever be entered into lightly or without thought.
(Having said that, Flo was in the back of my car 30 mins of seeing her in Battersea )
