Rehoming Seb
Exceptionally sad for me but I find myself in a position of needing to part with my companion of 5years. I've always put myself second to my boy. I'm now going through a split with my partner and as I have to travel abroad a lot with work being away sometimes two to three days at time i need to find Seb a new caring owner. Unfortunately i dont have family or friends that can give Seb the time he needs, though he's not demanding, actually far from it!
I've even tried finding accommodation to rent within 30-40 minutes from Heathrow lodging with someone that would give some time to Seb when i' m away.
Unless a miracle happens I need to re-home Seb. I really really do not want him to goto a rehoming shelter so am looking for ideas or websites of where I could rehome him. Or experiences from others on how you have rehomed a dog and felt comfortable knowing it was going to a forever caring home.
Any advice or ideas would be grately appreciated, thank you.

oh, that's awful - you must feel terrible.
Did you get him from a breeder?

Hi ya Paul, welcome to the forum.
Sorry to read of your sad position, I can't offer any help with the rehoming except maybe to suggest Battersea dogs home, I'm certain Seb wouldn't be there very long.

Re: Rehoming Seb
Gosh, what turbulent times. That must be so, so hard.
I would also not dismiss the idea of a rescue centre. From personal experience (I'm a regular volunteer), they're not as bad as you might think. Ok, it's not what a dog would choose but to be honest the alternatives could be worse.
Firstly the alternatives. Please don't advertise on Preloved/Facebook, etc. Unless you really know someone, you can't be sure that a home offered it what it appears to be. We have had several dogs in who have been through the online private rehoming system and sometimes the result is really not pretty for the dog.
It might be worth checking with your vet to see if they know of anyone, so an individual who comes with some sort of background check.
Otherwise, I would always suggest a rescue centre. We have a lot of staffies in and almost all of them find homes. The few we have to have pts have serious issues, mostly medical. Especially given his colour and the fact that he's got a known background and is from a loving home should mean he's not in rescue for long.
The real advantage for the dog is the long term future. A reputable rescue centre will always do through home checks and will always take a dog back if needed for any reason. It is a safety net for rehomers and rehomed alike. A good centre will care for the dog well, it is no worse than being in a bording kennel.
The big 'if' is whether you can find a space or not. Many places are permanently full. The home I'm with is RSPCA affiliated and our priority has to go to welfare cases and strays, which means we can only take in dogs from the public when we have space. It is worth calling round - Battersea, Blue Cross, Dogs Trust. I don't know how busy they are at the moment so it's worth trying.
I hope you find something soon, it must be a weight on your shoulders.

many breeders will also take back dogs they've bred & rehome them - that's why i asked if you got him from a breeder.

Aww i could never contemplate rehoming its a hard decision. he looks adorable theres a few staffy specified rescue places you could try and a lot of people give a staffy a temporary home until a forever home is found. He won't be there long though good luck.

Re: Rehoming Seb
Thank you for your replies. For the next week or two I will still attempt to find accommodation for myself with someone that will accept Seb into the house. As I work from Heathrow I have posted to a few Facebook airport workers groups asking for accommodation. Fingers crossed, I'll keep you posted. Thank you.
