Unsure of what sex of pup to get
HI, so im really considering getting a staffy pup in the following few weeks or months however I currently have a female king schnauzer and want to know if one sex is more tolerant of other dogs than the other. From what I've read 2 staffies of the same sex tend to fight more often but I'm unsure if this also applies to 2 female dogs in general. My king schnauzer is unneutered but she is currently 2 1/2 and if i got a male by the time it sexually matured my king schnauzer should be at a good age for puppys so I'm not really worried about that mostly i just want to ensure the dogs get along.
Thank you, regards Anthony

Re: Unsure of what sex of pup to get
hi and welcome.
firstly, I would highly discourage you from breeding a stafford to your Schnauzer (I take it by 'king' you mean giant?), I think most people here would consider that highly irresponsible. If I have misunderstood you, please accept my apologies!
Many people keep two dogs of the same sex and have no problems at all. however, it seems that bitches tend to be worse for scrapping amongst themselves, but a lot depends on how you train them as they grow.
the choice of sex is so dependant on your own preferences, of course.

Re: Unsure of what sex of pup to get
Hello, thank you for your response. Firstly by 'king' I mean she is a crossbreed between a king charles cavalier and a miniature schnauzer, why is it discouraged to breed a stafford to a schnauzer?
It is not my intention to breed although I am completely up for the responsibility of raising puppies and have many friends/family who would be eager to take one.
Preferably I would like the sex that is more friendly with other dogs and relaxed in the house but playful when outside. I kinda want the staffy to be like a big brother or sister to my own dog.

Re: Unsure of what sex of pup to get
there are so many 'designer' dogs nowadays, bred on a whim, to make money or just a 'doesn' t matter if they do' sort of thing. What about the health problems prevalent in all three breeds? Will you test for them all 'in case'?
i don't mean to be rude, and i hope you don't take it that way, but dogs should only ever be bred for the betterment of the breed. Accidents are one thing, but an attitude of it doesn't matter because she's old enough is totally irresponsible.
Sorry, just my opinion, but maybe you should get another bitch to prevent any 'accidents'.
