New staffy owner soon and 1st dog!!
Hi all...we are just wondering was anyone slightly nervous ( as well as excited), on having there 1st staffy. Reason I say nervous...is I want to do right by him...and make sure he grows up to behaved etc...my hubby thinks I'm over thinking it all, so thought id pop and see if anyone else felt like this just before you picked your pup up?
thanks.

How exciting, I bet you can't wait. You have joined a great forum with loads of information. Don't be scared to ask any questions you have no matter how silly you think they might be. When we got Gus we made it a priority to socialise him with as many dogs as possible.

You'll find it frustrating at times, hilarious at times and very very rewarding when you get the training right. You can over think it, after all, a first puppy only happens once but it'll all settle into a routine soon enough.
I would look to do some puppy classes as soon as he's old enough, it'll help him become a good social dog & he'll learn loads as will you.
There is loads of info here and if you can't find what your looking for just ask, we are all here to help.

Gus is 6 months old now and we still worry if we are doing things right. Its nice to see that the hard work and training is starting to pay off now though.

Very exciting times ahead! I'm sure you'll do more than right by him.
On good idea is to start early with basic training - I'm not talking about hours of drilling or anything like that, but if you bear in mind that your pup will be learning all the time, whether you know it or not, making sure he learns the right thing from early on is a great idea. Just tiny bits from time to time once your pup has settled down will be all you need. There are some super videos here:
