Hi, just want to say hello to everyone. I am a total Virgin Staffy owner after falling head over while delivering surplus dog beds etc to my local recue. I have houndies...a greyhound a whippet and an Ibizan hound foster. Storm will be joining us hopefully on Friday. Unfortunately he had jumped out of a window and tore ligaments in his back leg so he cannot be released until the vet has given him the all clear. He is about 7 years old and a small dog. I just wondered I'd anyone can give me any ideas what to expect... I know my hounds are food thieves and all run very fast across a field. They also sleep a lot of the day. What are typical Staffie traits? Also he has not been castrated and just wondered what people tonight about this. Thankyou all

Hi welcome to the forum. From my limited experience of owning a staffy I would say they are full of energy, mischievous and love endless cuddles. keep us informed on how you get on.

Hi & Welcome to the Forum from Flo and me, well done on the rescue. I would introduce them one by one so as not to overwhelm Storm Big Grin

Hi and welcome from me and mine.

Good on you for taking on Storm. Good lad, converting another to their charms! Just wait till he's home, you'll never look back!

I agree about taking things slowly for him. He might find adjusting to your crew takes a while (or he might not!). I would in particular be vigilant around food time - staffies can be quite foodie and, depending on his background, he might feel a need to try and grab what he can from the others.

I'm surprised at the rescue not neutering before rehoming, most reputable ones will always do that. As they haven't yet, I'd let him settle down at home first then book him in to get it done. It can help with straying after the ladies if nothing else.

Bless him, though, he'll not be able to keep up with the sighthounds! Laughing
