New member and New Owner
Hi all
I am Darren from Leicester and have recently fallen in love with a 2 year old Bitch that is currently living in the local rescue centre, I am going to pick her up on Monday after work and cannot wait to spend time with her.
At the moment she is Called Moomin but i don’t know if that suits her or not will need to think about it when i can take her out on my own.
I have owned Staffy's in the past as a teenager in the family home and since moving out never had the time to spend with them.
As i said she is a recue dog with some amazing colouring and once she comes home i will post some photos up of her. As someone that wants to really enjoy spending time with her i want to know what’s the best food to feed her on, looking at the forum it seems that a lot er towards Raw food, so can this be mixed with Dried and feed her primarily Dried and then once / twice a week (maybe more) give her some Raw meat.
Looking forward to giving the lovely dog a new home as she deserves.
Thanks
Darren

Re: New member and New Owner
Hi and welcome to the forum from Rocky and me.
I feed my dog Barking Heads which is a dry kibble with a little cooked, cooled chicken added to it.
We do have members here that feed raw and I'm sure will be along to put you right on this.

Welcome
I don't feed raw so I might be wrong, but I think it'll be fine to feed mostly dry food, but occasionally raw. Can't go wrong with a bit of variety, right?

Re: New member and New Owner
Hi & welcome.
If you try & mix raw & dry you could find that your dog will only eat the raw! You could try raw in the morning & dry in the evening so that the difference in food doesn't upset the digestion, but a lot of dogs will then refuse the dry completely.
Have a think about it & if you want to ask questions about raw feeding go ahead!

Wow thanks all for the welcome notes.
I was going to go with the Dry food most of the time and then as a treat give her raw.
But i will take all the comments into account from you guys, and its nice to know that so many people are there to help.
Thanks Again.
Darren

Re: New member and New Owner
Hi and welcome from Kia and me
when we got Kia she had been fed on just cheep dry food and she had really bad smelly wind
we started to feed her on minced tripe mixed up with some mid price range dry food she loves it always clears her dish and no longer clears a room with smelly wind
so i would say if you are going to feed dry go with a good quality one,

Re: New member and New Owner
Just been to see her at lunch, and took a few photos but they arent great as she wouldnt settle down for the photo shot. But my Avatar is of her.
Just been told that she is currently on 1 1/4 can of wet food and some Biscuits so will move onto dried slowly so that i can see if she starts to reject it.

Re: New member and New Owner
Thanks again all, seems that I have found where Harry Hoddini got to thought !
She has managed to get under a fence into next doors garden and play with their Labby, steal a Chew bone and raise havoc through the morning while i was at work. So I know what i will be doing over the weekend now.
Still love her to bits though.
