Re: Hi :)
It's because of their growing bones, the growth plates don't close till later. I'm probably over worrying but over exercise can cause joint issues in the future. Pups don't get tired, it's the risk of long term problems. I would say 8,9 months at the earliest for running with you. Short runs then build up. Google about growth plates & exercising puppies. It is hard cause puppies have so much energy. Rebel gets the zoomies & runs on the grass but I keep his lead walks short. He would go on all day tho so I play with him & short spells of training tire him out. There is so much to think about with pups but I admit I'm an over thinker & worrier, especially with my dogs & children. I come across so laid back but brain always going haha

Re: Hi :)
haha well i didnt know this thank you for the advice - currently the walks we take chase on are usually 30mins max id say about a mile and a half take him to a wooded path then into the cemetery round the cemetery and back home - let him off the lead and keep him off throughout the walk as soon as we hit the wooded area that seems to have got him used to going for walks but if its just me and him he sticks to my heels until we on way home and then he is darting in front then stops and waits then goes again lol

Haha, my Mum's dog ate a dead mouse the other day. It was disgusting. I tried to get it off him but he crunched it really quickly

Re: Hi :)
Ok so its confirmed Chase is not a full staff - text the breeder today as its been on at me since day one that he is a tiny little thing - i asked about the father and turns out they let the mum out on her own and she has been caught by a "small Jack Russell type" or so they think it all sounds like they have no clue who fathered the pups.
I am now worried what lies ahead especially for my cat as Jack Russells are not the type i would of gone for with a cat my uncles jack literally jumped into the canal to chase ducks and got stuck its a wonder he didnt drown :S

Re: Hi :)
I honestly wouldn't worry about that. Jack Russell's are another fave of mine. My Saxon as pure jack Russell & an absolute sweetheart & very smart. I have kids, 3 cats & a rabbit. My Mum has Saxon's brother with 3 cats, he is hyper but great with all other animals, even my sister's hamster. Saxon is a fearless little dude but never had a single behaviour issue with him in 6 years

Re: Hi :)
When I bought Saxon everyone gave me their dire warnings about Jacks high prey drive. So as I puppy I socialised him with lots of animals & still do. Yea he would chase a wild rabbit, maybe a bird but my pets are family to him. He was brill when my youngest was born as well. Chase is a puppy so he will be fine with your cat. Saxon likes a lot of exercise, chasing balls etc, that probably goes towards his calm, friendly nature inside

Re: Hi :)
awww well i do hope this is the same for mine as chase always goes to bite the cats head when they relaxing but then again when the cat is outside with the dog the cat is worse lol proper chases the dog and pins him.
As for socializing we try to make the best of every opportunity to let him play with other dogs but he is very protective of the kids even now in the pet shop this weekend he was sniffing another dog when my oldest son spooked the other dog on accident who reacted with barks and growls and chase went mad was really embarrassing everyone was stiring like we had a dangerous dog with us =/ and then last ngt the back door was open and next doors cat came to my back door chase was barking and growling and then hid behind me lol

Re: Hi :)
Rebel is still rough with my cats sometimes, I would be worried actually if I hadn't been through it during Saxon's puppyhood. The time supervising & rewarding gentle cat interactions will pay off. Sounds like you are socialising. Just keep it up, we walk past cows, sheep & duck ponds with plenty treats to help Rebel learn. I think having Saxon teaches him a lot
