Can anyone help with a coat for my girl?
Hi,
My girl Khaleesi is a 1 year old staffy boxer cross, around 51cm from the nape of her neck to the base of her tail.
I'm looking to get a coat for her, I think she'll usually be fine without one it's just over Christmas we'll be spending a lot of time at my FIL's and he lives in the lakes and we often go hiking up hills which are absolutely freezing, icy and snowy. My FIL's chocolate lab is fine in the cold because of his thick coat but I'm not sure about my girl as her coat is short.
We've only had her a week, she was a rescue so not sure how she'll be in the cold, would rather have a coat for her just incase.
I'm looking for something warm and waterproof, possibly even high vis or bright coloured. Can you get coats that have an opening at the top for a harness? Like to clip a lead onto a harness that will be worn under the coat? as that would be awesome
Any help or recommendations would be appreciated! :-)
Here's a picture of my muddy girl.... just cause she's gorgeous and I like to show her off ;-)

She's lovely. There are lots of different coats, and if you find one you like you can always cut a hole for the harness, or put the harness over the top of the coat

We got one for my Flo earlier this year from the pet concession at Wyevale garden centre. It fits her perfectly and does have a hole for the harness ring too. The only slight problem is that it tends to slide down one side a little but other than that it's fine

I've bought misty this one from pets at home http://www.petsathome.com/shop/ProductDisplay?urlRequestType=Base&catalogId=10651&categoryId=&productId=162790&urlLangId=-1&langId=-1&top_category=&parent_category_rn=&storeId=10151
We have to put her harness on over the top though. It's n been impossible to find one for a harness hole that sits properly on her.
Our dog trainer has recommended https://www.equafleece.co.uk/dogs/fleece/dog-coat for misty as she doesn't particular like her coat so I bought this in Orange last night as they looked good quality on the trainers dogs.

' Dog Gone Smart Aspen Furtrim Parka Repelz-It Waterproof Dog Coat '
( from .. 'pets@home' )

Lady's prev. coats had velcro fastenings
i didn't get along with them ..
velcro would attract fluff 'n stuff .. disabling the sticky effect .. so would come undone
also one coat the velcro fastened on top of the coat
'n her lead would get caught in it .. and again it would come undone ..
so .. .. .. aim was to get one with clip fastenings ..
and an opening for a lead ..
the above mentioned coat has both ..
( be a fleece lining )
liked it so much i bought 2 ..
real easy to put on 'n remove ..
size were an issue .. ok for girth .. but too long
so .. had them shortened by 8cm ..
they wash easily 'n dry quickly ..
and so far the stitching is holding up fine
pic from winter 2015 ..
