New puppy
Hi, I have a new puppy from a friend of a friend who owns svereal staffs aswell as other dogs. She told me the pup is a full bred staff and is 6 eeeks old. The mother stopped weening the pups at around 3-4 weeks. He has been fed puppy biscuits soaked in milk and since I've had him he a had no prob eating puppy food and puppy milk. Due to the size of the pup I'm unsure of its age and whether it's full staff. He has all of his teeth, is in good Heath wormed ev 2 weeks etc. He just seems to be tiny for a staff pup. He's around 5.5inch from the withers. Unsure of his weight but it can't be more than a few lbs. I can see his ribs and backbone slightly but he is a happy, playful mischevious wee puppy. My profile pick is of the wee fella. Any advice will be greatful

Re: New puppy
Its hard to see in your photo, looks very staffy like but hard to tell untill they get older, have you booked him in to your vets for a check over yet as they would give you a good idea of how old he is

Re: New puppy
Hi ya, welcome to the forum from Flo & me
6 Weeks old is really too young to have left the mother but that's not your fault but bad practise from the person that gave you the pup at that age.
They do look very small when young but as long as you see weight gain and he's eating all that you put in front of him he should be fine. Feed little and often. If you are at all concerned with how he's progressing get him checked over by your vet.
As for full Staff, hard to be sure if there are no KC papers to go with your little fella but even if he isn't, I'm sure he will make a loving, loyal fur friend for life

Re: New puppy
I see. The father and he was a bully staff terrier very friendly, the mother I seen briefly and she was thinner and taller than the dad. I had him checked by vet day after I got him and he estimated between 5 and 6 weeks old goin by his teeth. Gave me worming syrup just to make sure he was worded and said he little underweight. He eats the puppy food sometimes the whole lot other times he'll nibble then walk away. If he doesn't eat the food I try encourage him to drink puppy milk. He brill wee pup, very ltttle trouble, adores people and is mischevious. Regardless if he full bred or not he'll be adored thanks very much for all your help. He due back at vets tomorrow week for weight check and 1st his vaccinations

Re: New puppy
oh my goodness, he's adorable!
from your avatar pic i would say he's younger than 6 weeks, but i'm sure you'll be the best thing to happen to him!

Re: New puppy
He does look very wee indeed. Bless him. It sounds like you're going to give him the best start possible now.

Re: New puppy
He's gorgeous. I too got my puppy when he was 6 weeks old and he was tiny, he is now almost 5 months old and he has grown rapidly. Like you I bought him as a full staff but vet told me he definitely is not. He's adorable though and very loving.

Re: New puppy
It looks like a staff, but a very young one. They should not leave mum until over 8 weeks at least. What is the exact food you are feeding and when/how much are you feeding? A pup that young should never be "skinny"

Re: New puppy
Hiya from me and Vinnie, he is adorable but I think younger tbh, as long as you are under vets with him sure he will thrive to be a great pup
