Dog Parks
Ever since my staffy was 3mos I started taking him to a dog park and today he became very aggressive and it looked like he was going to get into a fight today if I hadn't separated him from the other.
What's the opinion on here regarding dog Parks

Re: Dog Parks
First things first... it's really unlikely that your pup was being aggressive. Dogs can play rough, and none more so than staffies. To those who don't know rough dog play it can look like aggression but it isn't. Have a look at this, it's my guys playing

Nola is an honorary staffie, she has the best snarly face!
Puppies aren't aggressive. Period. Well, except in some incredibly rare cases, but it's highly, highly unlikely that you have one. If you think about it, it doesn't make sense from a survival point of view - you don't get into a fight unless you need to as there is a risk of you getting injured and puppies even more so.
As for bark parks, I personally don't like them. You have a load of super excited dogs with no control. It's a recipe for disaster. I'm 100% for dogs socialising and interacting but in a safe way. I would always suggest as much socialisation as possible for puppies but calmly, with humans stepping in to say 'enough' when energies start to build.
Yes, that's not what you see on that video but that is in my own home and with 3 dogs who live together and know eachother incredibly well. I would not have that energy level when out, either with other dogs or among themselves.

Re: Dog Parks
totally agree with Liz. i don't much like dog parks as they can lead to serious over-excitement, and with a stafford that can be awkward!
can you walk him with other dogs in a less stressful environment?
