Thunder and lightening Empty Thunder and lightening

Evie had her first experience of stormy weather this morning. She saw the lightening and then jumped out of her skin when there followed a very loud clap of thunder and then scarppered indoors. To try and make light of the fright I started humming Singing in the Rain! Gradually she came back to the doorstep wagging her tail and bobbing about - I'm not sure it was the quality of my musical skills but it seemed to help her get over the shock but now my neighbours know I'm the crazy dog lady Laughing

Great response! I'd go even further and make every flash and bang a 'yay! here's something nice!', followed by playing, treats, whatever. Teach her that storms bring wonderful things and she should grow up without fear of them. Even still, it's worth keeping and eye on her responses when you start to phase out the mad moments and fears can develop later.

So next time, not just the singing but the dancing too Big Grin

I've never been much of a dancer but I'll certainly add that to my routine dancing
