Cute Puppy Alert!
Hi everyone,
I keep lurking around here and thought I would introduce myself. I’ve owned a Staffordshire Bull Terrier for around 12 years. She sadly passed away a few months ago, my heart was ripped out and I was so unsure about getting so attached to another one. A month or so ago I was out walking with my Honey, a beautiful Bullmastiff x Dogue de Bordeaux, when we came across a lovely little staffy, Honey went nuts, play bowing and whimpering, she normally ignores other dogs, just gives them a serious look and continues about her business, I took this as a sign and fast forward a couple of weeks and meet this cute little fellow
He's been with us for a month and is now 14 weeks old and a complete nutter, loves everyone and everything, especially Honey She loves him too and it’s so sweet how gentle she is with him, she just hasn’t got anywhere near his energy levels, but he’s starting to learn when he can and can’t play with her.
He’s such a clever little boy, very quick to learn, struggling a bit with the leave and wait command, but I guess like all little pups, he goes death from time to time with that one, especially when it’s dinner time!
Anyway, thanks for creating such a great community for such a special breed of dog.

Re: Cute Puppy Alert!
Thanks Ian, I was so nervous about introducing them to one another, but they got on great from the off, he wasn't concerned in the slightest that she was over 10 times his size, she sniffed him, he grabbed onto her neck and they have been playmates ever since
It was a bit disconcerting though the first time his entire head disappeared in her mouth!

I can well imagine that a puppy head disappearing in to a large jaw would be quiet a nervous thing to watch

Re: Cute Puppy Alert!
I'm so glad you warned us - cute puppy indeed!
I love watching dogs playing together, but particularly big ones being gentle with pups. It sounds like you've got two happy dogs there!

Re: Cute Puppy Alert!
Thank you all for your welcome! Had a bit of a panic with him a couple of nights ago, he was doing roll overs with honey on the grass and all of a sudden he just sat down and froze. I picked him up and carried him in and he laid in his bed for a bit looking sorry for himself, when he got up he had a bad limp on his front right paw. Poor little fella. Not sure if he pulled a muscle or was bitten by something. He's got the vets on Tuesday for his final jab so I will run it past them then.
I checked his puppy cam throughout the night to make sure he was ok, I let him out of his crate in the morning and he was absolutely fine, charging around like a nutter again. I’ve been doing my best to try and keep him calm so he can recover from whatever happened, but how on earth do you keep a 3 month old pup calm!?

Re: Cute Puppy Alert!
You can't Dave
Hopefully he just twisted it or got a slight sprain but worth mentioning to the vet.

Re: Cute Puppy Alert!
In fairness he does have moments of calmness, it's then I worry the most. He's like an apache gunship, his head pops out from behind the sofa, his eyes slowly scouring the environment looking for a target, analysing the fastest, most devastating route of destruction.
I wouldn't have him any other way
