Dog Picnic

This afternoon we took Gus and Kelly to a neighborhood dog get-together. Everyone brought their dogs,and we met up with Skeet and Kenna there! They had a Lure course set up so all dogs could participate and I thought I would share some photos of Gus,Kenna,Skeet and Kelly coursing. We walk Gus and Kelly with a collar and lead,they are trained not to pull that much,so don't worry they don't hurt themselves with a collar.

It's a sport that stimulates a hound's natural coursing instincts. It's a "lure" (plastic strips or bags) tied to rope that gets pulled around for the dog to chase around an open,fenced field and try catching it using agility,speed and enthusiasm. It's really fun for the dogs. It is usually just for sight-hounds,dogs that use their eyes rather than nose for hunting and such.

That's basically what it is.

This one we went to was open for all dogs,and wasn't an actual trial where they get scored so they had fun fooling around and having fun

Anytime they get to chase things is a good time for them.
