Little Jimmy
As some of you know, though I no longer work full time in rescue, I still support a number of local, independent rescues and the work that they do. Recently, a little lad named Jimmy came into Devon Dog Behaviour - Rehab & Rehome.
Jimmy is an 8 month old bulldog cross puppy, dumped by his breeders, with a serious physical defect. Jimmy's spine is fused to his skin, near his tail, leaving him completely incontinent. Jimmy had an MRI scan, but the vets deemed the surgery risky and very unlikely to be successful. Instead, Jimmy began physio and hydrotherapy soon after arriving to the rescue. Sadly, Jimmy's mobility has diminished much sooner than we had hoped, but his wonderful physio has chosen him a mobility cart, which will help him to get about.
Here's what Jimmy wrote:
Me and Terry from Pool for Paws are very excited indeed. My new cart is ordered! it will be here in five days and costs £454.95. Mum says it is the Rolls Royce of carts so my buddies cant knock me over when we play. She also says that anyone who wants to help pay for it would be really welcome! it has a place for Pete (the pig) I can do wheelies! - I think. Love Jimmy. x
We have currently raised £140 of £450 pounds for Jimmy's cart. Considering DDB R&R are such a small rescue this is quite a blow to the funds. If anybody would like to help this cause, donations can be made via paypal to ruthowen_ddb@yahoo.co.uk
