Very poorly Debo
There is nothing more upsetting then waching your furry baby being in pain.
It happened last night, Debo was a sleep on the sofa, suddenly he woke up and did that reverse seezing noise and tried to go back to sleep, few seconds later he did again but this time fallowed by a loud yelp. He tried to stand up and his front legs just gave up. He was fine after few seconds. We kept an eye on him and all went to bed. He woke us up at 3am, looking distress and you could tell his in a lot of pain. He was making arch back and his neck was stiff and swollen. Took him to emergency. They gave him painkillers and we came back. He slept till 8 and woke up crying, up again and to the vet. He had trouble on putting weight on his left side. They gave us few option, two of them freaked me out. One was - he just pulled a muscle while doing that sneeze. Two - there might be a problem with his disc but to be sure they need to refer us for mri. Three - there might be a problem with his brain, again mri, which cost 2,500. He's insured but not for that money, and obviosly if needed I'm gonna take a loan to cover that. They sent us home with strong pain killers, if its not gonnna go away for about a week, we will have to do the mri. He's very distress and I think still in pain, I jus want to lay down and cry...
Don't know what to do. Yesterday we had very quite day, just long walk, no ball or silly games... I just dont understand

I'm so sorry to read this about Debo. I have my fingers crossed that he has pulled a muscle but can fully understand how upset you must be, it's horrible seeing them unwell

Re: Very poorly Debo
Oh Debo pulling a muscle does make sense because of the sneeze, so here's hoping it's that. Will he let you massage where it hurts? I find when Rio pulls his back leg, a massage helps loosen it for him
Will wait out for updates

Oh Debo you poor thing. I completely understand why you are so upset, it's horrible watching them in pain and knowing you can't do anything to help.
Fingers crossed its a pulled muscle and hoping he feels better very soon x

Re: Very poorly Debo
Hi all, thank you all for good words. He does let me touch him,he acts strange way, maybe its the pain killer. The vet said they are strong, he acts like after general anaesthetic. Like hes scared, his reaction are slower and he cries quietly. We seeing the vet in the morning. Another sleepless night...

It must be a very strange experience for him. Try and give him some light massage and gentle cuddles to reassure him

Re: Very poorly Debo
Hi all, we slept maybe 2 hrs, very restless. Very anxious last night, evey noise he heard, he started to cry. Don't think it was the pain, I think the pills are too strong, he didn't know what's going on. Last night had to make him to drink a bit of water, just gave it to him with a spoon, I've noticed then that his gums are very pale. Decided not giving him anymore pills, didn't want to risk it. Hes now cuddled on the sofa with me, not a sleep, like he's afraid if going to sleep. We're seeing the vet at 10. Will ask the vet about the pills.

You could be spot on with the pills being too strong. Hope there's better news from the vets, fingers crossed for you

Re: Very poorly Debo
The vet said that debo looks a lot better today, can't see any fault with him, just to be safe, keep him on the lead for a week and no long walks. Has he ever owned a staffy?????? I'm relieved. He said the pills were very strong, now they are wearing off, and Debo is much calmer, very quite for a change. He's finally a sleep. He told me to keep the pills if any thing change. He didn't say for sure what it was. Without MRI its difficult to say. Let's just hope for better now. Debo, you gave your mamma massive freight.

Re: Very poorly Debo
So pleased to read that Debo is much improved, certainly sounds like what you thought to begin with that it was a strain from the sneezing.
Good luck with keeping him calm on walks

Re: Very poorly Debo
Good luck with the week of rest! Bug's been on rest a few times after her surgeries and she adapted to it really well, lots of kongs and mental stimulation inside if he can cope with it. Which medication did he have? Hoping for a speedy recovery this week!

He's a lot better, trying to play some tough games. We have to stop him not easy, he's very disappointed. But still when walks he puts his legs very gently
