Bloody mad! Empty Bloody mad!

Post by Inez Maria Thu Feb 11 2016, 10:24

As you all know I love my wood walks with Vin, and am always vigilant as of the wild boar around. Well yesterday and day before we have had 2 near misses just walking down main path and from nowhere one has charged at us! I must admit it was so quick I didnt have time to put Vin on lead so I ran and called him luckily he followed me. I was so scared as it did chase us for what seemed like ages but was probs only seconds.

Now I dont have an issue with them but am so annoyed that nothing is being done about them! its so bloody annoying that I am now scared to go into woods! I dont know why they cant fence them off in different areas of the forest so people can see them but no threat to us dog walkers, its seriously left a bad taste in my mouth!!

Have you tried playing music? Usually keeps wild animals away.

I know it sounds funny but it must be scary when they come at you like that. Do they ever cull them ?

The adults usually make a decent amount of noise and the little ones don't wander far. Could you be near a source of water, that could also cause an issue

I have never had a problem before Ian and yes I was scared and wasnt right all day after, well they say they cull them but I am dubious on that. They want to privatize our forest so whether there is method in their madness I dont know

wonder if there was anyway there could be a way to scare them off without harm ie putting droppings down in the area dog walkers frequent. for instance here to scare the population of pidgeons rentokil bring in a bird of prey to scatter them I dnt know what would be a predator of a boar but something needs to be done before someone is seriously injured Sad maybe the music be something to try hen thats what mobile phones are handy for Smile

They are scary beasts Inez, we have a lot round here!! Lots of noise does deter them, you could try singing as you walk Laughing I could fit some in my freezer if that would help Big Grin

Definitely put on some music or something loud, maybe even take some bells with you (bells on collar maybe)

You're right to run, they are scary beasts and will deffo attack. If i was you i would be reporting it though.

Can't fence them in or anything, they don't see fences lol (just run through them or ruin them anyway)
