Muddy paws and cars.
So.. My little fiesta has sadly died and I have a slightly newer Clio! It is pristine inside and although it probably won't stay THAT clean, I would like to avoid it becoming the sty that the fiesta was!
How do you all keep your cars.. Presentable with muddy Staffies bouncing about inside? I've got seat covers/blankets/towels covering the back seats and matting in the boot, but it's a 3 door so she has to make her way through!
I really don't feel comfortable with her travelling in the boot, it's a tiny car and I'd hate to think what would happen if someone went into the back of me!

Re: Muddy paws and cars.
Nice new wheels I must say my car is a mess but I have an excuse being a gardener Katy mainly rides on the back seat & that has a dog hammock which covers the back seat & the backs of the front seats, also has a fleece throw for her to snuggle in. Heavy duty seat covers on the front ones plus a towel as I can guarantee Katy will jump over when I park up

Re: Muddy paws and cars.
I have a waterproof cover that slips over the back headrests and allows the seat belt connectors to pull though so people can sit there and the strap on buddy's car harness clips on works wonders to keep the back seat clean ..got it from pet planet I think

Not much you can do really Rach. There will always be hairs, mud, sand etc including damp dog whiff no matter what you try
Does it really matter though with a better car and Bug safe and happy, that's all you need really

Re: Muddy paws and cars.
Same here really. Had a blanket on back seat and wasn't too bad with Bree my previous girlie cos she was black lol. Now I have Milo who is white and you notice every hair of course so I've given up trying to stay clean. I hate cleaning the car so it gets left. Then you happen to give someone a lift and feel really bad about it lol especially when they complain about it (daughter ) but I just tell her "if you prefer to walk?" that shuts her up.

Re: Muddy paws and cars.
So you should it IS fancy! I have leather but in OH car i put a plastic tarp down in the back seats (tuck tight!) & a fleeced blanket over top which of course is pushed off a thousand times. I think the key is to regularly clean & not allow build up, we're very particular about this. Good luck & enjoy zipping around!

Re: Muddy paws and cars.
i have the hammock and a couple of big thick blankets on the back seats of my land rover because tessa hates traveling in the load space as it's too far away from me and she cries all the time. if you do get the hammock i would recommend the seatbelt attatchment that clips onto the collar so you don't get a staffie wrapped round your head in an accident.

Re: Muddy paws and cars.
Please don't use a seatbelt clip onto a collar, Daz. Sudden braking could cause a very nasty neck or throat injury. Use it with a harness only

Re: Muddy paws and cars.
Those seatbelt attachments are brilliant - but I do definitely agree never use it with a collar. I've also used mine as a short lead in emergencies or to get him to the house etc when I forgot his proper lead.

Re: Muddy paws and cars.
Yeh nothing's gonna stop the inevitable stink of wet Staffy .. also the usual scratched interior, footprints everywhere, etc.
After Max was takin his toll on the interior of quite a smart little hot hatch a couple yrs back, I decided to get rid (of the motor, not Max ... tho it was close! ) .. and went back to 4x4's and got this :
Now I don't have to worry too much (cus I attach him to the bumper and he pulls it along )

Re: Muddy paws and cars.
Have you thought about any of these http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=dog+hammock+car&tag=hydrukspg-21&index=aps&hvadid=58789255447&hvpos=1t1&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=11270084197832374087&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=b&hvdev=m&ref=pd_sl_4w2nyfk6lv_b
Link should lead to an Amazon page showing back seat "dog hammocks" which also solve the issue of the dog falling off the seat
Alternatively though you said you don't like the boot there are a number of crates that are supposed to withstand impact that go into the boot but I can see why you wouldn't want your dog in there

Re: Muddy paws and cars.
I can't really offer any advice as Flo has a seat she sits in directly from the boot area, so technically she isn't kinda in the boot but is....
We have a seat cover and a throw to catch the mud off those paws.
