Crying A sad day for Responsible Irish Owners :-(

Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

http://www.independent.ie/irish-news/pictured-with-the-family-dog-that-mauled-her-surgeons-fight-to-save-womans-arm-after-vicious-attack-34400208.html

As a responsible Irish owner a well cared, trained, exercised and loved family member it is so very upsetting to read this article today...Sadly it made the national news yesterday and will only enforce "Hatred for the Breed".

I feel sad and angry that it hasn't been very much noted, that they are non nationals, arrived into the country last month, the dog only arrived last Friday - attack on Tuesday outside (storm weather here on Tuesday). God knows where and how the dog was treated in the absence of its owner, and how confused it might have been feeling on the monring outside in the weather.

The comments are very upsetting. I already sat my daughter down this morning, and explained that we will need to be extra careful in protecting Roxy against the general public and mindful of the attitude others have against our dog. I also explained that it could easily come to a situation, where we may have to put a muzzle on her for her own protection and in doing so its because we love her dearly and will not allow anything untoward happen her.

Roxy is only 11 months, but jumping with love to greet people, any suggestions for a very strong harmness that will make it less frightening to the public and we (myself and my daughter) have greater control without looking like we can't take care of her. As staffies come she is small - 13 inches in height and 12kg in weight

This is so sad. On reading the comments, there seems to be some dispute about the breed.  Some are saying it is a Bull Mastiff and indeed was reported as this previously in a different article.  Also saying it is a Staffordshire pit bull!!!
Yet again Staffies are being blamed because of a badly written article with incorrect facts.
Hope the lady recovers from her injuries

It is indeed a sad story, but I'm afraid I take what is in the papers with such a huge bottle of salt I can't really comment further, other than to say that they've honed in again on breed instead of looking at why this happened. I'm sure there is a lot more to this story than we'll ever know

sad story I did note however there are no photos of the dog I detest media sometimes they dramatise so much not to say this story was not dramatised . something whatever the breed definitely triggered the dogs behaviour I dnt care what breed of dog it may be if a dog hasnt been trained properly from an early age any dog is dangerous

Yes, I am sure we won't get to know the full story but my point is that the majority of the general public will see this as another Staffordshire bull terrier attack because of the sensationalism of the report.

Reading the comments made me so angry angry
It bugs me how the entire article focuses on the fact it was a staffy (even though it later states its a cross breed, not a staffy) instead of giving the details on why it happened!

I really hope this doesn't impact you or Roxy, Adele!

I didn't read it because I just know the comments will get my back up. All we can hope is that common sense prevails and people don't believe all they read.

Hope the lady recovers ok Sad
