Buddys Food.. Empty Buddys Food..

Post by smudge95 Tue Dec 22 2015, 12:40

Hi any one who has seen my posts about Buddy and his food will know I have a bit of an odd bod - after a month of trying raw feeding with nutriment , and home sourced- I have decided to go back to kibble , the reason being he wouldn't eat anything with bones in .. and his toilet was still runny and too often .. any way by the by he is now on kibble and toilet is back to solid twice a day and the fact he will not eat out of a bowl not so worrying as he will eat kibble out of his kong .

I started him out on Millies wofheart and he did eat but very slowly and not with any enthusiasm , so I read on hear about tails .com and sent off for a sample bag he ate it great - but I was concerned that it was not hypoallergenic so I called them and they kindly sent me a sample bag of that which he is eating.
I am just concerned that the food from tails may not be the best ingredient wise - listed below is what is in the tails food he is being a bit naughty of late and wondered if anything in the list below would cause a behaviour change

my question is, should I keep him in this for a few months and see how he goes ( he has gained weight on it) or should I go back to Millie's and persevere to get him to eat it as it is better nutritionally, I do not want to cause him any issues later in life with a poor diet now - he is 10 months old and weighs 17.5 kg

Thanks as always for any feed back

Normally I would say 'that's a lot of filler' etc, but I appreciate your situation's a bit different. I think I'd be inclined to go with what he will eat for the moment and let him settle, maybe for 2 or 3 months, then see if you can gradually start mixing in a different brand with the aim of weaning him over.

thanks Liz that's what I was thinking.. I am so glad he is at last eating - wish the raw had worked but he just didn't get on with it but when he is older I will try again .. I really wished he liked Millie's straight off but should have known Buddy being Buddy LOL

Maya can also be a very fussy eater. i`ve tried her on all the BARF ones, different brands, and she may eat it, so then i will stock up and she won`t touch it again Lol.
At the mo, she loves lightly fried liver, pigs or lambs, and minced beef.

Ian, you are so right he is a funny boy.. as he is now on kibble I bought a little bowl that fits in a holder that slips on the side of his crate so he can have a drink as he eats from his kong whilst I am at work .. but no we don't like it.. he got his nose under the bowl and knocked it out of the holder water everywhere , threw it out of the crate followed by the holder itself ... then picked the dish up and sat with it on the sofa in his mouth with the dish covering his head - I wish I had got a picture but was laughing too much , to do it !! going to have some fun with this one I think LOl
