Does my Staffy walk abnormally
Today I noticed that Suki walks a little different than I thought all dogs walked. I thought that if the front left leg took a step forward than the right rear leg moved at the same time.
With Suki when her front left leg takes a step forward so does her left rear leg. Normally I am busy making sure she doesn't eat anything that moves or that she can find but today she was walking very well so I noticed the way that she walks. Does anyone else have a dog that walks like this?

Have'nt really studied the walk really ( as in which leg moves at the same time as the others) but will be looking now and sure to let you know my findings

Is that when she's walking or trotting? If it's walking, that's fine. If it's trotting then she's 'pacing'. It could mean a couple of things; in the wild, a dog will 'pace' when it's tired as it's easier on the joints etc, although trotting normally is better for conserving energy & stamina; it could also be that she just finds it more comfortable and has got into the habit; or it could be that she has a structural fault. Now, don't panic if it's the latter, because it would only matter if you were going to show or breed her.

Thanks for the reply and she only does it while walking. I just thought that it was very odd as I have never seen a dog walk that way before.

It's quite common when they walk - I read somewhere that it's because they are so wide & deep chested.
