protein amount recommended for new puppy
Hi my wife and I will be getting our male and female American Staffordshire terriers this Thursday.we purchased two bags of the taste of the wild puppy dry kibble.I've been reading a lot about protein and am curious what the recommended level would be?I believe the puppy formula has 27% protein and 17% fat.I read this breed needs a high protein.the regular taste of the wild has 32% protein and 18% fat. I wouldn't not feed puppy food but should I look for something with higher protein? Thanks everyone:)

Re: protein amount recommended for new puppy
All breeds need high protein. Dogs are carnivores and thus thrive on meat (aka protein)
The highest protein food you can afford, is the best for them. Puppy food is usually a gimmick, its same price, less ingredients. It is usually less "rich" so does do them some benefit, but 1% fat will not make any difference. The ingredients to look out for are the ash, maize and wheat type things.
The kibble you mention, is a good quality food if you are looking to feed kibble.

Re: protein amount recommended for new puppy
I agree, that's why we chose the taste of the wild for the ingredients. I kinda feel the same way about puppy food just didn't no if the amount of other vitamins ...like copper maganese iron etc would be bad for the puppy.I did notice the totw puppy lacked chicken from the ingredients and the adult has chicken.thanks for your reply

Re: protein amount recommended for new puppy
Pups will need more calcium, so perhaps there is more than in adult?
