what size Kong

hi
how do you know what size Kong to give ? Buddy is 8 months old and has the puppy kong - he is ok with it but I am finding I am not getting enough food in it for it to last very long- but not sure if he can hurt himself with a Kong that is to big - I'm sure I have heard of a dog getting its tongue stuck in one, which is why I am a little concerned at the one he has .
does the size matter ?

it was a kong ball the dog got its tongue stuck in, i would say get a medium one for him and just supervise a couple of times see how he gets on with it
