Puppy Insurance
Pick up my wee lass at the weekend and have been sitting scratching my head at all the different types and prices of insurance . Don't want to pay a fortune but want to make sure I am getting the best for my money. Can anyone recommend a good insurance company to go with?
Thanks in Advance,
Danny

Cheers Ian, I have been having a nose through the forum. I have been quoted £16 per month from More Than Premier which seems pretty good. Think I will go with this.

I went with PetPlan for £23/ month. This covers conditions for life rather than just the insurance year which is often why other policies may be cheaper.

Re: Puppy Insurance
Looking at the more than it states it cover 12k per year but doesn't mention life time. I thought the fact it was there premier plan it would but cant see it.

Re: Puppy Insurance
We went with pet protect for £12 and that one covers conditions for life and £10,000 per year

Re: Puppy Insurance
We are with MoreThan and have been for years. They've shelled out again and again, from Harley's cancer to Bob's on-going allergies, and we've never had a single quibble or even query about any treatment. The only thing I'd say is that their premiums do get a bit steep as a dog gets older.
In contrast, a friend whose dog is insured with LV is currently having a dispute about treatment as they want proof that a couple of injections were actually given. You don't need that when your dog's ill.

Re: Puppy Insurance
I think the younger they are when you get it the better as most carriers won't cover a preexisting condition. I don't know if there is a Better Business Bureau over there but I would suggest checking the credibility of the company and going with one with a high reputation and staying with them

MoreThan continued to cover ours after 9. Harley was 11 and they paid out thousands for him. I don't know if they take on older dogs, but they certainly will continue cover for one. Your excess is higher and the premiums do shoot up, but the cover is there.

Call them to check, I thought it was lifetime cover within the financial limits of the policy. To be honest, you'd be seriously unlucky to have something that needs £12,000 a year. For reference, Harley's chemo was about £5k. On that basis, we have the classic cover limited to £8k. But, they may have different rules for newer policies.

Re: Puppy Insurance
I am new to the world of dogs so not sure what the costs are of different ops, just want to make sure I definitely have enough cover . I looked at the 8k cover and did think that would be enough but wasn't sure if that was lifetime.

Re: Puppy Insurance
Mia05, with our last staffie we struggled to find insurance that would cover her when she got to 10 years old but we went with Tesco in the end who covered her all the way up until 15 years old when we had to have her pts because of cancer (we started the policy with them when she was 10) x
