What bed for a chewy puppy?
Eccles is 4 months old and had destroyed his bed! It was one if those stuffed ones. I have bought him two fleece blankets which he is snuggled up in now but would like something to make it more cosy in his crate in the winter. Don't think a plastic one would work and would need to be more flexible to fit in his crate. Needs to be washable too, is the vet bedding good?

Vet bed is woolly and VERY chewable haha. You can get very durable beds but they cost a lot. They are in pets at home.

We have been putting a few old towels in Cecils house till he gets a little older and stops the chewing.

Re: What bed for a chewy puppy?
Our two pups have got through so many beds and are only 21 weeks old (I stopped counting at 15!) so instead we are now buying cheap pillows from places like home bargains, b&m, QD etc and putting them in with them and we have had no problems with them chewing them. We replaced them for a new bed last weekend and it lasted on night and then the stuffing from it was all over my kitchen floor, put the pillow back in and again it hasn't been touched so it may be worth you trying that? It also shouldn't matter too much if he does chew them as they are much cheaper than dog beds are! X

Re: What bed for a chewy puppy?
Yea a couple of pillows could work alright. I could pad out the crate with them and then put the blanket in top. I gave him a duvet once but he peed on it and it was a pain to clean, pillow would be easier to wash and could be binned if gone too far. He just dragged what's left of his bed into the sitting room and it stinks too, needs a bin.

Re: What bed for a chewy puppy?
In all honesty they can destroy beds at any age. My Flo is 9 and recently killed her fluffy pillow bed, it's not just a husk of a bed laying on the sofa
Old blankets and cheep pillows should do just fine

Buddy has killed so many beds in his crate I have given up -he has a fleece blanket that has been safe since day one I put that in his crate and then cover the outside of the crate with thick blankets from the charity shop - he comes out all snuggly and warm in the morning as long as you cover the crate to keep any drafts your little one will be fine-

Re: What bed for a chewy puppy?
Still having trouble with this. Have been using pillows but he drags them out of his crate and rips them apart, they also get very smelly and are hard to wash. I have a couple of fleese blankets and will get more but will have to find something soft and reasonably indestructible to put under them.

Re: What bed for a chewy puppy?
I wouldn't worry too much about putting something under them..I thought this about Buddy everything I put under he chewed. I have left him with just a fleece blanket and he thrashes it around and makes a little pile for him to sleep on and is as happy as can be - I have three so I have one in the wash one clean ad one in the bed - I cover the crate of a night to keep drafts out and he is fine - once he stops wanting to eat everything I will try again with a crate bed..but he des not seem to worry about it -easier to clean up the odd accident too.
