Titer test
Have any of you guys done the titer test/vacci check? I've booked Bug in for it on Saturday as she's due her lepro vaccine and I want to see what her levels are like for other vaccs.

Re: Titer test
So, do you vaccinate at all? Share your info she was in kennels for years and they vaccinated her so many times, without knowing her previous vaccine records.

Re: Titer test
Just got the results in - levels are out of 1-6 (6 being the highest) and she's covered at a 6 on one set and a 5 on another (she hasn't been vaccinated for 2 years already!) So they've said not to vaccinate this year, and test again in another 12-18 months. So glad we had it done!

Re: Titer test
i've not been too happy regarding annual vaccinations ..
simply because Lady seems to go off her food .. doesn't play with her toys ..
doesn't want to interact with me or other humans much .. basicly seems under-the-weather ..
and has 'lost her natural sparkle' for about 3 to 4 weeks after her injection ..
anyhow after seeing this thread .. i googled 'titer test' ..
and these links came up .. vet opinions about the annual vaccination .. and the titer test
http://vetmedicine.about.com/library/weekly/aa060702a.htm
http://vetmedicine.about.com/library/weekly/aa090702a.htm
http://vetmedicine.about.com/od/vaccinations/a/FALC_vacctiters.htm
http://vetmedicine.about.com/od/vaccinations/a/FALC_vacctiters_2.htm
i might be saying 'no' to futher vaccinations ..

Results are SO interesting!! I have vaccinated for the first puppy set, then a booster, but only every 3 years after. My new dog was vacc yearly so he won't be vacc again lol

Re: Titer test
Thanks for the links will have a read through! That sounds about right Hayley. My vet has said that he doesn't vaccinate dogs over 9/10 anyway, so realistically if her antibodies are still high next time I probably won't bother anymore.

Re: Titer test
Yeah Lexi is 11 now and billy is 9 they don't leave the house much and they stay in the yard/my field so no contact with others. I'll not be back either of them anymore!

Re: Titer test
I'm lucky enough to know his vaccination history, so I'm ok with having annual vaccinations for the meantime. I take my dog to at least four different parks on a regular basis, all those parks have a large dog population and a lot of foxes. Also, we have parvo outbreaks round here. Joys of London living.
At least we don't have groups of semi-feral strays anymore like we did in the 80's.
