Toilet trip during the night ??
Hi all we are currently putting Ziggy to bed at around 11 after she has been to the toilet ,she is not messing or urinating in her crate at all , but is it ok to expect her to go all night till at least 5:30am at only 8 weeks as her bladder is still developing etc any advice appreciated cheers

Re: Toilet trip during the night ??
Hi from me & Katy, Ziggy is a bit young to expect her to go through the night without toilet breaks but sounds like she is doing really well. Don't be surprised if you get a few accidents, as you say she is a baby & wont have full control of her bladder yet

Ok thanks for that we are not trying to make her go all the way through without going but she has the last two nights which we are really pleased about but she is still having the odd accident around the house but apart from that she has been brilliant very impressed with the intelligence and fast learning nature of this breed love her to bits

Re: Toilet trip during the night ??
Betty is 10.5 weeks. She has a last toilet trip at 10pm and then I get up to her at around 4am, then back to bed until 6am when my OH gets up.
She too has never used her crate as a toilet, but the same cannot be said for the rest of the house.
She will go outside and we give her lots of praise for doing so, but she also has lots of accidents inside which is a little wearing.
Any suggestions as to how to cub this?

Just keep putting her out rach as often as you can, after play food etc, Marley had a few accidents usually when he was really excited from playing, have you tried a spray that takes the sent away? That worked wonders for me from asda I think, she is still young she will get there

Hi Emma -
Yes, I'm using the Simple Solutions spray to take the scent of doggy wee away. I'm not convinced it is working but we are plugging away with positive praise when she goes outside. It is mainly when she is playing or excited that the accidents happen!

Yh same as Marley it will get better as she gets older tho, whenever I used the spray Marley would sniff it then back off, don't think he liked it haha. Just keep doing what your doing she will get there how's Betty with your daughter now?

She was getting better, my daughter was feeding her, giving her treats for 'sit' and so on, however this morning was a nightmare with both puppy and children very hyper! I have banned 'tugging' games completely as they were encouraging Betty to tug on anything... clothes...my thumb etc! We start puppy classes on Saturday

Re: Toilet trip during the night ??
Aw great glad she's no longer frightened of her, they will be the best of pals now yep I stopped that game till Marley was older too! He used to hang off all our clothes, I have to give them both a time out, but I've been so surprised with marleys behaviour towards her duno wether it's because he can sense she's a baby but he is still a baby too but honestly she bugs the hell out of him and he just ignores it all
