Dog nutrition
Yes,dogs can eat raw meat. However, the meat in stores is full of bacteria and viruses.Cooking the meat kills the bad stuff, but if you feed it to your dog raw..you may have problems. You should only feed your dog fresh raw meat (like, the animal was killed the same day)

Re: Dog nutrition
also if you freeze fresh meat to kill off the bacteria and totally defrost before feeding the risk is really minamal so not really a valid problem

Re: Dog nutrition
Dogs can cope with 'ripe' meat very well. There are now many thousands of dogs around the world on a raw diet, and I've rarely heard of any problems re: bacteria/food poisoning; certainly no more so that with cooked meat.
You might just as well say that no canids are carrion eaters, whereas of course there are. Don't forget that many wild dogs will bury any food they cannot consume straight away for eating later.

Re: Dog nutrition
JoNaThAn, if you're feeding a raw meaty bones diet properly they will get all the vitamins & minerals they need from their food. They don't need extra.
Same goes if you feed a dry complete food. It's only if you cook food that you have to start adding things to make up for the vitamins etc you lose through cooking.
