Hi from a new staffy pup owner.
Hi I am the proud but wobbly owner of a 19 weeks staffy pup who I have had since 7 weeks ( maybe younger not 100% sure on that)
He is growing at the speed of light and I think I might need help with his training. No other dogs will play with him except my son and DIL's Staffy and they play hard for hours and hours So unless I have had a visit with my son then my pup is hyper hyper and going out is problematic .. just for the simple reason that if he sees anyone else he goes made with joy and will not calm down.
We live in Hertfordshire and have just come back from our first camping trip. It was very interesting and a learning curve
Nice to meet you all.

Re: Hi from a new staffy pup owner.
We go play fetch twice a day .. He is brilliant at it.. gets the ball or ring brings it back and drops it at my feet. Even if he needs a toilet in between throw and fetch. I just have to repeat "Get it" and he goes and gets it.
I live rural so have fields and bridal paths etc.. and we have a great time BUT the moment he sees anyone else that is it.. all games and training out the window. The times we go visit my son oh the change in him is amazing he is so happy to have someone to play with and when we come home he is knocked out with that staffy grin on his face

Re: Hi from a new staffy pup owner.
Hi ya, Welcome to the Forum from Flo & me
T is still very young and everything is so exciting but you probably need to tire him out more to make him more responsive to training. Try some mental games like hide the treat (He will burn off energy searching) or a treat ball or even an old cardboard tube with a few treats in and newspaper in the ends, they get a double whammy out of those with the treat and then destroying the tube

Re: Hi from a new staffy pup owner.
That tube thing sounds just the ticket! Its his fav thing to pinch the loo roll and destroy it .
I shall be testing these out on him. I feel brain tasks are the way for him in-between our walks.
