licking the bed/pillows/duvet
Gizmo keeps licking giant wet patches on beds, pillows and duvet covers. When we tell him to stop he pretends to lick his paws and then sneaks back to licking the bit of bed or pillow next to his paw.
Why is he doing this and how can we make him stop?

I'm not sure about why this happens myself. My Bulldog did this all the time. I think it may be a comfort thing.

There's no rhyme nor reason to it. He's done it to just put on pillows and bedspreads as well so it's not just his hoover function at work.

My staffy cross does this too. As did my old staffies. Maybe it's one of those weird staffy things, like being scared of rain?

I don't think it's a staffy thing. We had a lurcher who would do it too. He'd then forget mid lick and stay with his tongue stuck like glue to the furniture.

yeah, Puds does this too. Bedding, furniture, curtains, the floor. You name it, he licks it. He quite particular about licking the knees of my jeans too....
And then that cheeky sideways look when you say his name! "What, me? I wasn't doing anything! I was licking my paws. Honest Dad!"

Yup Texas does this, putting my hand where shes licking usually halts the habit for a bit, I'm starting to think she just enjoys the sensation
