Heya all hope you and your Babies are fine Smile i have a few questions:

1) how long do you guys take your 6 month old staffy out for as i walk cody everyday but he doesnt play fetch and he doesnt leave my side so when we get home he mostly always hyper and then he starts being destructive and stealing stuff out the bin ive tried walking him with other puppies his age and hes just not intrested in them at all.
How do i wear him out on a walk so i have a calm dog.

2) Im taking him on his first camping trip on tuesday is there anything i need to know is there anything else i need to take other than the essentails ( food , crate, leads, toys)

thanks in advance xxx

Hiya it isn't necessarily a bad thing if codys calm on his walks do you take a toy that may interest him? Rope toy for example?.  you can go to a park get him to watch you  perhaps him chasing you with the rope toy .  its a good chance to go looney and have an excuse for it Laughing Laughing.  If his recalls fine id suggest you run with the rope toy get him to  chase you . If his recall isn't upto scratch a long line will work also. Also wanted to ask what food is cody on ? How much exercise is he getting? In general if cody is 6 months i think he should be getting 1 hour split into 2 walks. Smile

His recall is amazing , and he wont play with anything on a walk lol and hes on wainwrights which he now finally likes Smile and his walk depend on him as if its raining he wont leave the house he cries the whole time and if its really hot he will just run for 2 secs then lie on the ground so usally his walk is to my brother school which is 25 minutes each way and we try and do that twice a day xx

I think the general rule is 5 mins for each month so about a half hour but am happy to be corrected. I would do that at least twice a day. Do you take him to the park ? If so, invest in a long lead so that he can wander and explore which should tire him out more. A long lead whilst camping will come in handy too.

If he's still hyper get him a treat ball to chase about or try some mental games like hide the treat around the house. Mental games can tire them out almost as much as a long walk Smile

As Ian says hide the treat is great for wearing them out, you could also do some basic training with him too if he starts getting hyper Smile
