Weetabix Empty Weetabix

Post by Niffer Mon Jul 20 2015, 09:45

Milo is very picky over his food and won't touch it in the mornings but will eat a Bonio. He's very interested in my Weetabix and semi skinned - do you think it'd be okay to let him have a Weetabix for his brekkie too? When we adopted Bree, our last staff from the RSPCA they recommended it in the morning for her when she was a pup.

He's on canned Butchers Tripe mix...we've tried everything and this is the only one he'll eat - albeit not very enthusiastically Sad

They recommended weetabix as ur wee pup needed building up, as for milo have you thought of trying to introduce him to dry food you can always add water for a gravy. My dog hardly eats in the morning either. Hes testing you to see the different foods you will give him to get him to eat something stick to the butchers until you want to introduce a new food gradually if thats what you would like to do Smile

As an adult he won't get any nutrients from weetabix, it's a no from me. Which food specifically have you tried him on? And have you tried feeding at different times? Has he had a vet check?

My Flo will often ignore her breakfast but if she gets a small treat first then this seems to wake her appetite and she'll wolf her breakfast down.

We are struggling here with the concept of not wanting food, at any time and of any description...

Will Milo eat 'treat' stuff, so not as in reward treats but special treats. I'm thinking of raw meat and fish to see if raw feeding might be an option, or something like cheese that could be mixed in as a transition or, my favourite for hiding nasties like pills, diluted Marmite for gravy.

I wouldn't be filling him up with something like Weetabix that has no nutritional value for him though. The answer has to be in finding some way to transition to a better quality food that he can learn to be happy with.

Marley doesn't eat much in the morning either, just has a little pick at it then leaves it till we get back from his walk, he's been very fussy with food to, he went off his dry food for over a week and would only eat it if I mixed something in with it, like a little wet food, his bum smelt tho Laughing so I just slowly took the meat out he eats his dry food fine nw think they just get bored quickly! Fussy buggers

If mia let me id be changing her food everyday last night she decided she wanted peas and carrots from my dinner i gave her them only after she ate some of her own dinner. If mia could human food would win over dog food . Laughing
