advice..puppy training and car sickness
Hi -can I have your opinions please
Buddy is 17 weeks now - and overall quite a good puppy, but I would like to take him to puppy classes ,more for a socialisation point of view and also to expand my knowledge on training him further ( he knows basics )
But, all the classes are in the evening ..and he gets really badly car sick if he has eaten - as the classes are in the evening I cant starve him all day..so would you still take him and hope constant sickness does not have an effect on car travel or the puppy classes going forward
or would you wait till he was a bit older and used to the car ?
not sure what to do for the best ....

Could you change the feeding time to a little earlier to allow his stomach to settle?

Re: advice..puppy training and car sickness
hi - I fed him at 5 in the morning and took him out at 6pm and he threw up - when I took him kennels - when I picked him up they had not fed him and he was fine... I think anything in his belly and the motion sickness gets to him...don't want to put him off the car as we want to always be able to take him out with us in the car

Re: advice..puppy training and car sickness
Odd that he was sick so long after eating. Personally, I think the socialising is more important as they learn so much in the early months.
So just to be clear, he had breakfast at 5AM and threw up at 6 in the evening ? Without having had anything between ? I'm wondering if that's the problem. I'd not feel so good waiting that long Carol, could you feed him in the hour before you get in the car and see what happens ?

Re: advice..puppy training and car sickness
hi we have tried both, we took him to a secure fields at 10.00am after feeding at 5.00am he was ok getting there but we gave a few treats whilst there when doing recall and he threw up on the way back..
I think I will just chance it and see what happens and try and give bland food and see if he gets better with age .
