Clicking sound from back legs Empty Clicking sound from back legs

Post by Rubio Sat Jun 20 2015, 09:38

Hi, I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this with their dogs? Rubio's legs click when he gets up and stretches or moves around in the morning. Normally there will be a couple of clicks (just like we might have when we stretch our own joints) and then it won't happen again until the next day. There are no clicking sounds thoughout the day and he is active and mobile and doesn't seem to be affected in any way by it. Has anyone else experienced something similar?

Yup my Flo clicks like that too. I would imagine it's the same as when humans click their fingers when pulled etc.

Might be worth mentioning to the vet on the next visit but wouldn't see it as being a problem myself.

I have t with legs, but Bug's neck clicks when she stretches. Could always mention it to your vet. No other problems with mobility?

Thanks for replies. No, no other problems with mobility at all. He seems healthy enough, I'm probably just being paranoid and wondered if it happened with any other dogs

You could always double check with vet about your dogs legs if you are concerned. Smile

I've never heard a clicking sound coming from Zeus's legs.. to be honest, if I did, I'd be straight to the vets just to make sure nothings wrong.

Ok, I'm not being funny, but would you go to the doctor if your joints were clicking when you stretched? That's what's happening, I just wanted confirmation that it's the same in dogs as people

Think it is the same as us humans, like I say, Flo clicks not all the time but she still does and if I remember correctly it's something to do with air in the cartledge which isn't a problem. Maybe worth asking the vet at the next routine visit for a better explanation though.

Both my guys do it. it can just be air dissolved in synovial fluid compressing and then collapsing in on itself causing a cracking noise. may also be a symptom of injury if you see anything that would indicate pain. best thing is to get hands on with a dog massage when he gets up and see how he reacts. focus on the front of the rear legs. hopefully nothing untoward

Thanks for the info. I always do massage to see if he reacts to anything but nothing at all! Will mention to the vet next time I'm there.
