Back Leg Joints Clicking and Stiffness
Hi All,
I have a 4 year old Blue and White Staffordshire Bull Terrier who has just turned 4 years old but I have noticed lately that in the mornings and of an evening he has been having problems with getting up the stairs and his back leg joints have been clicking and as of this evening he seemed to have a limp.
He does not yelp or cry but he does seem to be very stiff on his back legs, yet when he has his walks every day he flys like a rocket and enjoys running around as well as playing ball with his ball thrower.
I am planning on booking him in with our vet tomorrow but I wondered whether anyone has had any similar problems with a young dog?

Re: Back Leg Joints Clicking and Stiffness
Moo sadly has quite severe arthritis in all her front 6 joints, she is only 4/5 ish. It took a battle of wills to suss it out and eventually I went down the x-ray route, We manage it fine now. I hope the vets can shed some light for you x

Hope it goes OK at the vets xx
Yumove is a great supplement for joints, my mum has been giving it to her 14 year old girl for about 6 months and its made a huge difference

Re: Back Leg Joints Clicking and Stiffness
I hope the vet can come up with a prognosis, they may well advize a joint supplement. There are some very good products out there which you could try. Rocky has glucosamine and chondroitin in his food which is for hip and joint care. He also has these for treats while we are out on walkies:

Re: Back Leg Joints Clicking and Stiffness
I would advise that you check with your vet. It could (hopefully) be nothing to worry about, or it could be early onset arthritis or Hip Dysplasia. Your vet should be able to narrow down the possibilities through physical examination and manipulation, although an X-ray might be advised. It's better to know so that the best treatment can be implemented. Do let us know how you get on, and Good Luck

Thank you for all of your comments
I was unable to get him in last week but I will be calling them first thing in the morning.
Last night he developed quite a bad limp on his left front leg so I am going to leave him to rest today and see what the vets say tomorrow. He seems to be feeling sorry for himself and is sleeping a lot, also very stiff but the limp seems to of nearly gone today so he must of ran to much yesterday. That's the only problem with Boss or any staffies....they think they are forever young and that they can behave like they did as a puppy...bless their cottons.
I will update all when I have seen the vet
