is my dog a staffy

Ok so i was walking my dog and someone happen to ask if she is part pitbull straight away i said no ive had her from a pup and the breeder said she was a staffy i seen both the mom and dad and they both looked like staffys im now just really worried can someonw help

Hi ya, welcome to the forum

Don't panic, you don't have a pit bull or even a part pit bull or even a little bit pit bull. The breed have been banned in the UK for quiet some time now. Staffies come in all sorts of sizes as do humans but I can understand how an off the cuff remark can put you on the back foot.

You've seen mum and dad and presumably they looked completely Staffy like so I wouldn't worry. From your Avatar pic, your dog looks all Staffy gorgeousness

Hiya it certainly looks a very beautiful staffie to me Think we all get that remark at least once.

I personally think we need to see lots (and lots!) more photos, just to make sure you know...

Your girl is totally beautiful, and looks darn like a staffie to me. To be honest, most people wouldn't recognise a pit bull if they had lunch with one and even the police have to get out their tape measures to confirm it. So if anyone else asks you, just smile sweetly and confirm she's a staffie.

most people think a white staffy is a pitbull for some reason she looks all gorgeous and staffy to me welcome from me and miamoo

i always reply with ' irish wolfhound actually ' which totally throws them

I know Staffy-lab crosses are supposed to look like pitbulls, but I've heard people call all sorts of mastiff-type dogs pitbulls - including american bulldogs. Daftness. This guide should help though.

If you have grown up white staffy and only been asked once I wouldn't even think about it. Coming from a proud owner being asked 5 times a day! Just ignore it. The only thing that matters is that your dog is trained and well behaved. By the way your girl looks like my peppa in the avatar so must be gorgeous lol

I  did think that bella looked like your dog lovely dog btw i have had the comment said a few times i was just concered  because didnt want her to be seized under a banned breed just because someone  thinks she looks like  a pitbull she is my   ears because im  half deaf and partically sighted  so  dont hear most things such as a doorbell

I have been asked this frequently also, I think a lot of us have. As Liz says, very few people know the difference between a lot of the bull breeds and even less are qualified to make a professional judgement. I've seen disagreements between the DLO officers themselves regarding what is type and what isn't. Train her well, keep out of trouble and I'm sure you will be fine. She looks very staffie to me though!

If yours is a pitbull so is mine (NOT) don't take any notice of these ignorant people

She won't be seized because someone thinks she's a Pit Bull. unless there was a really good reason for authorities to take notice, for example an injury to someone, then she is fine. Even if there was a mishap I'm 99% certain from your avatar pic that she is in no way a Pit
