Standing up for Staffies
Hi Everyone thought I would share this with you as It has made me smile and feel like there are still some decent people out there that haven't been sucked in by the media that Staffies are devil dogs.
So we were at the cycle track with Harley on the extendable lead and there was a women with a little Yorkie so Harley being Harley was only concerned on talking to the dog and owner and would not budge so we stood talking for a while then in the distance we saw a wired jack Russel dog running towards us.
Naturally I was a bit unsure as the body language of the Jack Russel didn't look to friendly but i kept Harley close and carried on talking. With that the Jack Russel lunged at Harley and was being very aggressive Harley just stood there and didn't know what to do so in the end I picked him up by the harness and held him the Jack Russel eventually backed off.
I was a bit shaky but fine because it happens quite regularly where snappy offload dogs approach Harley and you kinda get used to it but the women wasn't having none of it and was mortified, 5 mins passed and finally the owner comes into view he walks past and I explained that his dog should really be on lead and that he did go for Harley and explained that he might one day go for the wrong dog. He Just grumbled yeah I know he has a habit of doing that but he really just wants to play! with that the women went to town on him explaining that Staffies always gets a rough deal. I felt proud of Harley and even though It wasn't the best situation she restored my faith a little that not all people listen to all the rubbish the media say and stuck up for us
Also walked on a bit and a crowd of walkers fussed Harley and commented how friendly he was I am one proud mum

Aww... Brilliant Beth. So nice when people take the time to get to know Staffies and realise they aren't mini Devils

Good on her! And well done you and Harley. You're right, one day the JRT will pick on the wrong dog and then no doubt it'll be the other dog's fault.
