Mia swallowed a sock!
As the title says little Mia has managed to swallow 1 of my gf's ankle socks so not the bigest sock but still I'm worried, it happened about 3 1/2 hours ago but she's been acting normal & eating her food, i spoke to vet & they basically said just wait to see if she poos it out maybe tomorrow it will happen. has anyone else been in the same situation?

Re: Mia swallowed a sock!
Scary, isn't it? I think a sock should be fine coming out by itself, just keep an eye out for it in her poo.
Gizmo ate a wetwipe when he was younger. It got stuck coming out so I had to pull it the rest of the way.
Bring some extra bags with you on walks so you can use them as hand protection...

Re: Mia swallowed a sock!
I've not had experience of socks being eaten... Sticks yes. As the vet says, as long as Mia is eating and drinking ok then it should pass but as mentioned above, you might have to help it out completely

Re: Mia swallowed a sock!
Just be very careful if you have to help it out. Do it very slowly if need be.
When we were kids our dog ate my school tie! It came out pretty much as it went in. And no, it wasn't worn again!

Re: Mia swallowed a sock!
Definitely recommend a trip to the vet's if she's been sick. If it's a partial blockage caught early then it should be easy enough to fix, but if you wait it could cause problems.

Re: Mia swallowed a sock!
Quick update for you, still no sign of the sock, Mia is acting her normal self & still going toilet at regular intervals & still eating her food like she's starving, vet's have said just keep an eye on her still.
As regards to her scratching that's calmed down a lot so looks like the Piriton is working a treat.

Bloody hell! No wonder she's been hungry, all that tummy space being used up by limbs and socks.
