My poorly baby.
These past few days have been awful. Rio has broken his back leg and it was the worst day of my life. I took him to the vets and he had to stay in. The next day he just wasn't himself when I saw him. I took him home and he couldn't move. All he did was cry and every time I tried to help him up he squealed. He was in so much pain. Then he done his toilet inside because he couldn't get on his paws. He had really bad diarrhea. It was horrible. I felt so sorry for him. I knew something wasn't right so I took him back down to the vets and even they agreed. They had to change his cast because it got dirty through the diarrhea and they kept him in over night again and the next day they told me he had a bad reaction to the pain relief so they put him on different medication. Luckily enough he's been great from then and is walking (waddling on three legs) and doesn't cry. His stomach is better and he's making it outside in time. The only fault is he's only eating a little and I have to put his tablets in his food and sometimes he won't eat so I have to take matters in my own hands and literally put them in his mouth. He swallows them and I'm just relieved because then I know he won't be in pain. But other than that he's just a little drowsy when he has them and sleeps a lot, but rest is good. I think he's slipping into depression so I let him out in the garden today and played ball with him. He enjoyed it. Then it was straight back to bed. Now he's sleeping after his pain relief and a little food. He's been drinking and I'm proud of his progress. Just hope his bones heal very soon and he's back up and walking because it's taking a huge stroll on both of us. I hate seeing him like this and I know he hates being like this.

poor little fella! have you tried corned beef or peanut butter and cheese? they're good hideyholes for pills. Used to use them to get my grandma's dog to take his eppilepsy meds.

Re: My poorly baby.
I would use dairylea cheese triangles to give him his medication but for longer term you could ask ur vet what may be best for rio like the paste you put in a kong perhaps?

Re: My poorly baby.
Thanks for the nice messages guys, means a lot and Rio caught his collar on my dad's bike and pulled it along with him as he was running in the house. The bike fell onto him and trapped his leg underneath. It was horrible. I couldn't stand the way he was crying. Luckily enough he's doing good now and is back to himself, just waddling
