Camping suggestions - New Forest, South Coast, Easy drive from London?
Hi all,
I'm planning taking Jackson on his first camping trip in a couple of weeks - just a long weekend to see how he gets on!
Does anyone have any recommendations for the New Forest or south coast for dog friendly camp sites that are, ideally, close to dog friendly beaches? I've found a couple on line but some of the reviews have been a bit off so thought I'd check here too.
Would head down to Cornwall but it's a hell of a trek just for the weekend. Happy to go the other way as well, Norfolk, Suffolk, etc. just as long as it's relatively easy to drive. Jackson's not the worlds greatest traveller (lots of drool!) although he settles down once we are on a motorway, for some reason.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received.
Thanks
Jane

We stayed at a caravan park at Eype in Dorset but has a camp site too. The beach was part of the Jurassic coast which has a lot of shingle but further along at West Bay were more sandy and certain parts were dog friendly.
Good dog friendly pubs too very near. Not far from the lovely market town of Bridport. This was a while ago though, 2006 so may have changed over the years.

Eype is great, we stayed there in dog friendly accomadation. There's a good pub and hotel bar which are both dog friendly and if you like TV stuff it's where they filmed a lot of Broadchurch.

Thanks Sheila, looks lovely, but maybe a little too far for just a weekend. Might have a look at it for a longer trip though.

I know this is a bit late but we stayed at Highlands End holiday park in March. It was a great place for dogs. could be a bit busy during school holidays but would recommend it out of season if you don't have children; if you do have children, there is plenty to entertain them. The restaurant and bar on site was good for meals and dog friendly.
