Welcome from me and pepper Smile

RE toilet training, take puppy out every hour or so, after a play session, food and nap. We started off taking pepper out and saying "wee" or "poop" depending on what she did with plenty of praise and treats but always keep to the same word so puppy associates the word with the action and it'll make for an easy ride.

We have 2 Staffies in our family (one is my dads one is ours and their brother and sister) and both of them adore my little girl (she's 5) they follow her around and whilst they will play rough with each other and adults they are so gentle with her and they pay more attention to her than us Laughing I've never owned a dog before much less a staffie but I can honestly say I don't think I'll ever be without one.

As lovely as they both are though it's important to teach both puppy and any children to respect each other's space and always make sure puppy has a safe place to go to get away, and of course you should never leave them unattended together. Teach them both boundaries and they will be the best of friends Smile

I've seen a pic of this little fella (I think), I'm a little Jealous Laughing

Hi & Welcome to the Forum from Flo and me Big Grin

Potty training is all about timing, if you know roughly when he is likely to want to go you can get him outside to do what he needs to. When he goes outside give him loads of praise and or a treat. If he has an accident in the house don't make a fuss simply clean it up with a deodorising cleaner so that there is no trace left. By not making a fuss of it you won't be drawing attention to this behaviour whereas praising when going outside offers real reward for doing what you want.

Hi & welcome from me and Tyson.

Potty training is hard I've gotta admit but if u get puppy training matts,, they help. You will get accidents but in time your pup will learn.
Good luck!

Hello and welcome to the forum Smile

You must be so excited for your new addition! Training mats are good but the quicker you get him outside the better so be sure to go overboard with praise when he does go outside; treats, cuddles, play time, high pitched voice etc...associate a word with it....I use "wee wee".

When an accident does happen, just ignore, no need to tell him off or scold! He will eventually learn that outside wee wee's comes with more attention and treats!

Staffs are a loyal, affectionate and are known as the nanny dog for their love of children, don't listen to the media...its down to you how your pup turns out!

Looking forward to lots of piks!

I would say staffs are one of the best house pets, especially around children - as long as they are treated and trained correctly xxx
