How to get a Staffie to toilet outside when it's wet/raining.
There is no pun, it's not a joke. Pepper just outright refuses to go outside if theres so much as a drizzle!
I've tried luring her out with treats, toys, shutting the back door so she can't escape back inside. She just sits by the back door with her paw over her face.
Does anybody have any advice?

Nope... This is what Staffies do
I know of no other breed of dog that flatly refuses to walk if there is the merest hint of rain. You would have thought that they would be up for it whatever the weather but my Flo even complains if it's rained and then has to walk on wet grass in the garden... You can read her mind with every paw... Wet, oh... Wet, oh.... Wet,oh... Wet, oh... Wee, run inside and shake vigorously

The only thing that has worked for us is an umbrella. Suki will go out now but is not happy about it.

I'm glad I didn't imagine the "well you go out if you want But I'm not coming with you" look
What do you guys do when it's wet? Will your pooches go out long enough to do their business. All of peppers have been in the house today. On puppy pads yes but it's not a habit we want to encourage naturally.

Bit different for me but I tell Flo to go and she does. She doesn't like it and I get the Staffy death stare but after a shake asks good.
As Pepper is young take her out and wait with her until she does what needs to be done and then praise praise praise, yes you'll get wet too but it's worth the early pain to associate going out with praise and or treats. The more you put in to training now, the more you'll be rewarded in the future

If she won't walk out, pick her up. Either see if you can find a sheltered place under a tree or something or, as JStaff says, try an umbrella.
And no, you're not alone. The 'you're kidding, aren't you?' face is one we all know. Many sighthound owners find it all too familiar as well.

Mia will pee on a path in the rain as long as there is shelter if i take her out in the rain get dirty looks for a fortnight so the younger they get used to rain the better . Plenty praise as above a puppy will have the odd accident in the house . Some pups are quicker learners than others about 4 months of age id remove the puppy pads from the house also if the pads are a certain place move them in front of the outside door or as near as possible to the front door.

hands up if you've taken your puppy out with an umbrella and stood there till s/he pees? Everyone? yep.
I sometimes have to pick him up and carry him over the threshold to get him on his morning walk if it's so much as drizzling. My Grandma's corgi-beagle cross was exactly the same but he'd bark at us if we went out in the rain like he was telling us off for being so foolhardy.

How old is she? My dog wouldn't go out at first but we carried him a lil away from our home & let him walk back and gradually he got better and better,, really proud of him tbh.
Good luck!

Exactly what I do.
I've learnt the hard way, there's been times where I've given into Zeus and not taken him out for a poo in the rain, only for him to wake me up at 3/4am barking his head off when it's stopped raining and he needs a poo!

The key is the younger they get used to certain things, the better it will be in the long run. Your dog will be stubborn at times just be firm but fair

Oh so familiar, Katy just stands in the doorway giving me that (no way) look. I give her a gentle nudge to push her out & say tiddle time, I block her return route to the house & tell her we wont be going in until she does. It works even if we both get wet. Just keep at it they soon get the idea

Yeah I've been donning my wellies and umbrella and standing outside.
The struggle I have is she will literally sit by the back door with her paw over her face and not move. I'm trying to gradually increase the time outside in the rain but she's found her voice and I'm convinced she's arguing with me about the whole thing lol

... It can be a battle of wills sometimes, keep at it though she will learn soon enough that the quicker she does what she needs to do the quicker she'll be back in the dry.

Exactly! Zeus has now realised this, he gives you the look for a second or two then realise's he just needs to get it over and done with. Took me long enough but got there in the end!

Re: How to get a Staffie to toilet outside when it's wet/raining.
Another hands up for the umbrella!
We would take him out into the garden away from the door and just keep saying the code word for toilet "wee time" or "pop a squat" and just be following him around trying to shelter him as much as possible. He did go, although I do remember being out there for over 10 minutes once!
Not fun but now we just hoof him out and he goes as quickly as possible so that he can be let back in
When it isn't raining, just keep up the high praise and treats when she does go and make sure you say a key word each time, and she will learn and know what she has to do in the future

Usually takes me about 5 attempts to get Iza outside to do her business in the rain she knows when i am running out of patience then goes turns around and gives me evil stares.

Re: How to get a Staffie to toilet outside when it's wet/raining.
Molly has been really good so far with house-training, barring the odd accident. Except when it is raining. what I do is pick her up and take her outside to her favourite spot, stand in the rain with her and give her loads of encouragement, however she just walks straight back to the door looking sorry for herself and giving me the evil eye and waits to go back in. So i just pick her back up, take her back to her spot and repeat the whole process. It may take a few goes but eventually she gets the idea and does the business and i give her a big treat and a hug while we are still outside. She now goes pretty much straight away so this has worked for us.

Re: How to get a Staffie to toilet outside when it's wet/raining.
Well it's been raining here all day, all night and yesterday evening without a pause. Bo normally goes for 2's twice or three times a day, but because he hates the rain so much he managed to hold on from 8am yesterday to 10am today. He refused even to pee, so he held that in for 12 hours overnight until his second walk. I wish I had a bladder like his.
The trouble is for the past 10 months he's refused to go in the garden, even to pee, so he waits for the next walk. So last night I walked two miles in the driving rain, with him marching on ahead showing no signs of going. Then I did the same this morning at 8am, two more miles, soaking wet and he still hadn't so much as peed. It was only on his second walk at 10am that he couldn't hold it in any longer.
He's such a wuss. Earlier in the week he decided the toaster was the worst thing he'd ever seen and cowered when I switched it on. Then on Wednesday he was afraid of his water bowl. Honest to God.

I must be lucky then! Bolo will go out in the rain to do his business. Took a bit of encouragement at first, but by picking him up and saying do you want to go wee wee, he does it now. I think he has learnt the quicker you do it the quicker he can go back inside!
He would also go sit by the door but I kept picking him up and taking him back to the grass. Worked eventually!

Re: How to get a Staffie to toilet outside when it's wet/raining.
I'm quite lucky, my two 12 week old pups are quite happy to go out in the rain, however our 18 month old Staffy cross point blank refuses! He just sits and stares at me and point blank refuses! I've not been able to find any way to get him outside in the rain (we got him as a rescue 9 months ago so not sure what the previous owners did with him) x

It's weird because my little Spudleybug isn't bothered one bit by the rain, and neither were my previous two Staffies....I never knew they were so averse!!
