Dog GPS microchips? Empty Dog GPS microchips?

Post by Goblin Sun May 03 2015, 18:38

His lordship is microchipped, but I was wondering if there was a sort of anti-theft tracking microchip for dogs? I've seen ones for their collars which would be great provided the collar's not taken off. The thought of him being stolen makes me ill.

Alternatively, has anyone used one of those GPS collar trackers and were they any good?

My brother in law has one for his Bloodhounds having lost one of them in the New Forrest once but I don't think he's used it yet. An implanted one might be a little more awkward as I would imagine they would need some sort of transmitter or GSM connection, both of which would need a battery.

Damnit. They have them for kids of Rich folks on tv so I was wondering if they were a real thing.

Unfortunatley as far as I am aware you can only get the collar ones. an implant would involve a power source, circuitry and an aerial. current technology just couldnt safley hide that in the body withought seriouse complications.  Until then My dogs are fed on a diet of High fat Kibble, Raw and cheap second hand smart phones  Big Grin
