Pet cremation - do we get our furbaby back?
Have you seen the cost of an individual cremation for your beloved furbaby?
And does anyone know if you are guaranteed to get your baby back in the casket?
As much as I want to do it - because what other choice is there - I can't help but feel as though we are being completely ripped off.

Our old boy Floyd's ashes are in the back of this photo frame. We paid £240 for him to be pts, cremated and returned to us in the frame. The photo we added ourselves. It's quite large, the photo is A4. It's the first thing we see everyday when we come downstairs.

Rach, Sorry to hear about Bailey. Such an awful time for you and can understand what you are going through.
My old girl Stella was pts last August. I can't remember the exact amount for her cremation but I believe it was around £320 but that included our vet's fee for coming out to our house to have her pts.
She was returned to us about a week and a half later in a beautiful scatter box and included a wonderful card/tribute. We had a choice of caskets etc which were more expensive but opted for the box which we liked the best and helped when we decided to scatter her in all her favourite places.
We still have half of her ashes in the box in our home with a framed photograph in front of it and will remain in our house forever.
Love and hugs to you all and I'm sure, in time, you will remember the good times you had with your boy

Re: Pet cremation - do we get our furbaby back?
We had a huge discussion about this.
And we realised that we simply could not afford to cover the cost of an individual cremation - as hard as it sounds, we have had to opt for a 'mass' cremation and have his ashes scattered at the crematorium.
Look, we would have loved more than anything to have what we thought would be his ashes, and I think the crems know this.
But, we have had to be practical - we didn't have the money - as simple as that.
We know that Baileys body was no longer Bailey,as such.
And we have his belongings to hold on to when we need to smell him.
He will always be close to us, and we have many favourite places that we can visit - and remember him running around like a little nutter.
I hope evryone can understand x x x

It's not about what we think. It's about you.

Sorry to hear about your loss. So long as you are happy with your decision thats all that matters. You have your memories, his toys and things, and somewhere to go to visit.

You really shouldn't feel you need to explain yourself. I'm one of those who never gets ashes back at all as for me they are partof the death of my dogs, and my memories are of them alive. I keep something from each one, but something that links me to them when they were alive.
We all have our own ways of coping, and each person's choice is right for them, whatever anyone else may do.

It's a horrible decision to have to make and not one I'm looking forward to. But you should never feel you have to justify yourself to others. It's what suits you and your dog. So sorry for you loss babe xxx
